Royal Uncle
The new BCS standings just came out, and Michigan retained their hold on 2nd place. With U of M holding on w/ a loss, could they drop in the standings when they don't even play?
Getslow
^Yes, they could drop considering there are likely two top-ten vs. top-ten matchups left... Notre Dame at USC, Arkansas vs. Florida in the Georgia Dome. A rematch is looking more likely than ever, but with the Coaches' Poll lifting USC over Michigan, a win over the Irish could easily knock them over the top. A convincing win by Florida or Arkansas might get it done... but it doesn't seem very likely.

EJHS Fan #98
I know it's unlikely but I feel that if ND beats USC next Saturday they deserve to play Ohio St. for the national title.
letabrotherspeak
If everything stays the same, is it fair that OSU must beat UM to win the title, considering they just beat them?
Oldbird
If everything stays the same, is it fair that OSU must beat UM to win the title, considering they just beat them? Happens all the time in b-ball. Why is football different?

stickymitts
If everything stays the same, is it fair that OSU must beat UM to win the title, considering they just beat them? I don't understand this argument. I heard or read someone today say that this game was like a semi-final game and Michigan blew their chance. Actually, it was a regular season game between the best two teams in the country. No more, no less. There's no way possible that anyone could justify the best team in the country (O$U), playing the 3rd best team in the country (presumably U$C) and calling it the National Championship. I said this before and no one responded. They say home field advantage in college football is worth 3-4 points. A neutral sight matchup is the only way to go... DragonFire
To embarrass them again they have to embarrass them a first time... I think he's talking about last year. I must say that I am surprised. Even though it was a great close game, it is very unusual of the pollsters to only drop a team one spot when teams behind them won. Not saying it is wrong, but it is highly unusual.
rltrace
It must be great to be Michigan. You lose to the only good team in your league and finish second in a league in which your other 9 members lose 28 of their 29 games against teams ranked in the top 25. The teams on your schedule have combined to win 3 out of 27 games against ranked opponents. The 3 big wins are Vandy beating #16 Georgia (now out of the top 25), ND beating #19 Penn St (now out of the top 25) and Indiana beating #15 Iowa ( now out of the top 25). Still you remain the consensus #2 pick in the BCS. Michigan has beaten noone who has beaten noone but because they are #2 in the BIG TEN they supposedly are head and shoulders above everyone else. Sorry but if you aren't #1 in your conference you are not entitled to play for the NC period. Close only counts in horseshoes.

Also, didn't they beat ND badly? Ya know what, if they say Notre Dame can never win a National Championship because they won't win a conference title I may agree with you.
