November 20, 200619 yr Boise St. should get a shot at the NC. They blew out Oregon St., who beat the Trojans, so surely they would blow out the Trojans also. If you don't want UM to get a rematch than you got to go with Boise St.

Would that not happen in a playoff format, possibly? Doesn't it happen in other sports all the time, a few off the top of my head, college baseball, college basketball, college hockey. What creates this "you had your shot" mantra? Wasn't the purpose of the BCS to pit the 2 best teams in a game to decide the championship? We could always go back to the way it used to be, but we've seen the problems that creates. The old system DID always solve interconference problems, because if you lost in your conference there was no way you were going to play in the Rose Bowl. So in years where the 2 best teams in the country were in one conference, it was great(and often that was the case). We don't have that system anymore, we have the BCS, like it or not.

Then basically all both teams had to do was win one good out side of conference game, and then just beat up on the rest of the weak Big 10 teams and they both will get to be in the title game, since it wouldn't matter what they had to do when they play the only other good team in their conference... Weak Big 10 teams, hah! That's funny. We sure didn't play 3 service academies. And as I recall one of those "weak" Big 10 teams had your guys on the ropes.

If USC wins out they would have had a great resume on their schedule, and would very much deserve to be in the title game. While UM had one good outside of conference win and then the rest of the wins came against mostly weak Big 10 teams this year, and when they played the only other good team in their conference they lost. While if USC wins out they also would have a win over ND, but also wins over other good teams... IMO, USC is the only team that may deserve a chance at the National Championship besides Michigan. However, a loss at Oregon St. isn't quite as impressive as a loss at Ohio State so I'm still not sure why they deserve it. Obviously if they deserved it they'd be at the #2 spot, correct?

So if USC wins a close game on the road, what does that say about them possibly being better than UM? Since UM was a 20+ point winner at ND? IMO, USC has to win convincingly at ND to make a real argument. If they do that, then I can buy a USC/OSU national title.

So if USC wins a close game at home, what your telling UM is that USC winning at home is more impressive than you guys going on the road and blowing ND out. Interesting....... :confused: :confused:
November 20, 200619 yr Disagree completely. Should USC win out, they're in if I'm king. Their entire body of work is more impressive and it should be rewarded. UM had 2 tough games this year separated by about 7 weeks. They were not tested like USC has been tested. If USC loses, the rematch is on. I don't buy this either. What are USC's 2 most impressive wins, assuming they win out? At the end of the day it's going to be Arkansas and ND, and how far apart are those games? 12 calendar weeks. And while I'll agree that USC did get a win against a very mediocre Nebraska team, giving thim 1 more out of conference "quality" win, I won't agree that, overwhelmingly, the entire body of work is more impressive. Their best 2 wins in conference are against Cal and Oregon, how are they not comparable to Wisconsin and Penn St?

Here I'll make it easy: Michigan blew out ND at ND If USC doesn't do that, then what does that say about them possibly being in the NC vs. UM?

As you will see smart guy that I have not been saying ND will get in over UM, because even as much as I would want them to, it just wont happen since UM beat them. Yeah the "weak" Big 10 is what I said because it is true. I will give UM credit because they did beat Wisconsin which I did forget about and that is a pretty good win. But face it the rest of the Big 10 is down, and UM also got a scare from Ball State. So dont talk to me about ND being on the ropes, because UM was on the ropes with a Ball State team.
