February 4, 20197 yr I thought Edelman was deserving. He was uncoverable, and his openness gave Brady an easy target when he wasn't throwing his best stuff. They may not have gotten points, but due to his catches, especially in the first half, they ate up clock, which a) keeps their defense off the field; b) the opponents offense off the field; and 3) tires the opponents defense.
February 4, 20197 yr Wasn't that a couple of plays after the defensive holding call on 3rd and very long (away from the play) that gave the Rams a first down? I don't think it was the same drive...but I may be wrong. Whenever it was the Rams were done after that hold.
February 4, 20197 yr I don't think it was the same drive...but I may be wrong. Whenever it was the Rams were done after that cold. It is curious as to why and when officials decide to call holding when it appears to go on all game. Do they get a call on their headset? :whistling:
February 4, 20197 yr Lots of bad officiating for both sides. The Rams got that 18 yard pass where the receiver clearly didn’t get that second foot down. Then the phantom holding call on the Rams guard. Officiating in no way decided the game, but it also wasn’t good officiating. No reason to keep talking about the officials game after game. The reception that shouldn't have been wasn't a clear call. That was a bang-bang play that you couldn't tell for sure until it was slowed down on replay. Rams did the right thing and rushed to the line and snapped it quickly prior to the Patriots being able to throw the challenge flag. I wouldn't call that a bad call by the officials. At real speed, it looked like he caught it with his left down and then dragged the right. I thought the crucial holding call was the only real questionable call of the night.

Agree to disagree on that one. It looked pretty clear to me that it was never a catch. I was shocked to see the official signal the catch. That left foot wasn’t even close to being down I didn’t need replay to tell me that. These are supposed to be the best officials in the world.

It might have been clear to you AFTER you watched a slowed down replay. The officials don't have that luxury in the moment.

February 4, 20197 yr It was clear before the replay to me. I never once thought it was a catch. Okay. :lol2: Maybe you should sign up to be an official.

Go to the 4:10 mark in this highlight video: It looks like a good catch. When the ball first hit the receiver's hands, his left foot was still on the ground, then he clearly dragged the right foot to complete the catch.

The left foot is actually clearly down, the debate is whether it was still down when he had possession. Saying it was clear it wasn't a catch before looking at any replay is beyond a stretch.
February 4, 20197 yr I don't think Brady played as bad as some are saying. As a Bengals fan, I know bad QB play when I see it. Brady would hate me calling him this, but I think he was a good "game manager" yesterday. Somebody had to throw those passes to Edelman. Edited February 4, 20197 yr by bugatti

February 4, 20197 yr Okay. :lol2: Maybe you should sign up to be an official. I’m not saying it’s easy or that I would be good at it, but when I watched that play in real time it didn’t look like a catch to me.
