That would be a compliment the way Woo performs sometimes.

Apparently less are attending based on last nights figure. Couple that with having to cancel the annual game in Cincinnati due to lack of interest and I would say alot less are attending.

 

Here's my rub. Tubby has successfully lowered the expectations of UK basketball and this has nothing to do with last nights game. I have been saying it for a year. UK has more SEC titles than all the other SEC schools combined, so don't give me its tough to win a conference title.

 

As far as winning percentages go he took over a team that was going to win. Now 10 years latter he is closing in on his 5th 10 loss season.

I heard the nickname Pac-Man way too much last night... Just going to have to let that one go... Come on, the name is already being used!

 

As for the game, I recorded it and watched when I got home late last night so I was tired and didn't catch the last 10 minutes or so... But there really wasn't a lot of ball movement. Everyone wanted to go 1-on-1 which was kind of frustrating to watch. The screens weren't being utilized at all, which can be attributed to both the screener and the ball handler.

 

Wide open shots were hard to come by, and even when they got them they just weren't falling too much.

 

Not the kind of W you want to start the season, but it's still a W... As someone said earlier, you could have a big L like IU and Kansas.

"Can't please the masses, so why try"....was one of my coaches favorite comments and still can't believe, the negative comments after 1 game....

Some do not watch the games! There usually eating out or hanging out at Wal-Mart!When the cat's don't play well they are the first to bash and when they are playing well they are the first ones to jump on the bandwagon!

The national Title Tubby won,was won with a underachieving team! Some People forget that Pitino Lost in the finals the year before! Maybe if Tubby had been here that year we might have won three in row! Just a thought!

In the past, often the SEC didn't have much besides UK in basketball. Now, we have a defending national champ that isn't UK, more than once the past decade have had 2 teams in the final 4 in the same season (as recently as 2005-2006). It used to be an easier conference to win a title in. Now, .. not so much. This season nearly every commentator I have heard regards the SEC as the best conference from top to bottom. The fact of the matter is that the SEC is a much better basketball conference nowadays compared to when it used to be a one trick pony (UK) with the occasional also ran.

 

Why isn't anyone calling for Pitino's head in Louisville after following up a final 4 appearance with a 13 loss season, no NCAA bid and losing to UK? Because apparently, UL has more realistic fans.

I never said that winning the National Championship is a must but having the opprotunity would be nice. Look back over the past 9 years and tell me if the program hasn't been on a steady decline. Look at the current roster. Look at attendance. Look at recruiting. Look at how UK is preceived by the rest of the country, how no one fears UK anymore. Look at the number of transfers. Look at the style of play. Outside of a gaudy overall winning percentage Uk has very little to show from the Tubby Smith era.

I agree that it is stronger but LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Auburn have fielded some pretty strong teams in the past. People forget that Tennessee was a national power in the 70's, as was LSU in the 80's, and Arkansas went to back to back title games in the 90's.

All the experts on various college shows and analysts, don't share your doom and demise on UK Basketball. They are over-complimentary on Coach Smith and the program, being constantly one of the best. The only people complaining, are the 'wannabes' or 'unofficial experts from within the state of Kentucky', who probably honestly feel, they are a better judge of talent, because they subscribe to scouting sites or read the newspapers and some guys, who gets paid to generate controversy, says "UK is down".....

 

Coach Smith has a style, system and given the amount of players that leave UK and play in the NBA or overseas, he must be better than some of "us" experts think.

 

By the way, have I mentioned that was the first game....
