I never invest much into this logic and making the Final Four as the "end all, be all" kind of thing. In a one and done deal, anything can happen... ask George Mason, a team that early last season was not Final Four material and probably never was all of last season.

 

Let me rephrase. What I was trying to say is that UK fans shouldn't but too high expectations on this team. The talent level is just not there for the Cats and their offensive philosophy will keep inferior teams in games. Anything better than last season's performance would be icing on the cake.

It was the first regular season game....and all this haven't won a National Championship in "x" years or been to the final four comments, program is down since Coach Smith got there is amazing.

 

For the record, ONE team has to win the National Championship every year and I know this is surprising, but it will NOT be UK....that may be shocking to some but just reality, it won't happen every year, five years or ten years. All of the other D1 programs, are trying to get better also.

 

UK is scrutinized and coached by more "experts", than most other programs combined.

 

Did I mention, that last night was the first regular game....

 

Feel free to continue sugar coating. I am basing my assesment on 9 years not one more game of mediocrity.

Anyone that knows me, would confirm that I don't sugarcoat anything. SEC basketball, is similar to SEC football in regards to toughness and overall competition, which has been confirmed by the continual number of teams in the NCAA tournament.

 

SEC Regular season and tournament championships, are not easily attained, but how many has Coach Smith accomplished, at UK.

 

As for the attendance, per UK athletics website and box score recap....20,444

We have 1 bad season by out standards and people want to say the program is falling apart. I feel there are reasons for concern and reasons for optimism.

I know it's only one game but I found myself dozing off watching the UK offense.

 

It looks like "Tubby ball" is going to consist of passing around the perimeter and someone chucking up a three every trip down court.

 

If Crawford isn't hitting like he was last night then it could be a long season.

 

Sometimes you have to credit the other team. You cannot always run simply because you want to. If you watched the broadcast, you heard Rob Bromley more than once say that Tubby wanted them to run if it was there. It wasn't there a lot.

He totaled 100 wins quicker than any other Wildcat coach except Hall of Famer Adolph Rupp, reaching the plateau in 130 games. Since taking over the UK program, he has won 79 percent of his games despite playing a schedule that annually ranks among the nation's best.

....:thumb: I think some often forget Cshs81, that every time UK has a game, their is an opponent whose sole purpose is to not let UK, do whatever they want.

And we all know that, for UK, this isn't good enough...

Got to have more production from the bench. 7 points all coming from one player is not going to cut it.

Never understood that concept, at any level of sports. Do I or anyone always agree...NO, but until a college coach or athletic director calls me, asks me to help or my opinion, I'm going to assume correctly, they know more about their athletes, coaching, opponents and recruiting than I, others do.
