I bet there was more people in Rupp Arena tonight then there will be in Commonwealth Stadium Saturday when the bowl eligible Cats take on Louisiana Monroe!!

Defense was poor all the way around. Way too much penetration allowed. Even Stevenson has trouble guarding out on the floor. Fortunately, he's a freak and can swat shots so that will be the saving grace. He's amazing in his ability to get off the floor so quickly.

 

The press looked terrible. It led to easy shots. The zone was was like swiss cheese.

 

Small lineup looked solid.

 

Meeks is ready to play right now.

 

Joe C. has a chance to play in the NBA with his ability to pull up and hit the shot.

 

C- would be the grade.

Hey this was an ugly win, but its still a win. All over the nation big schools are having ugly wins or losses to smaller programs. Kansas was supposed to be a juggernaut this year and were beat tonight. Im happy with a win for now.

UK ended up with about 8 or 9 blocked shots. All of those shots were shots they got close to the basket. The blocked shots simply made up for bad defense.

Miami is a big and experienced club that is very dangerous if they are hitting from deep.

As many have stated, it is a win. Yes, there is work to do. However, Indiana has a loss and Kansas got beat. Also, N. Carolina was given a test by Winthrop.

There was no flow to the offense. Ramel Bradley is NOT a point guard. A change needs to be made at that position.

Watching MU's backup FROSH PG #4 made me think of our old #4 with all of that ball pounding.

So what your saying is our on the ball defense wasn't good, but overal our defense was good based on the way we blocked shots and altered shots and protecte the paint?

The buzz around Lexington is already bad.... might be a long season. Really can't blame it from last years results. Its early, but I think everyones patience is thin.

That would be the positive spin, yes.

 

However, I sure would prefer stopping penetration which would decrease the wide open looks on the wings and the easy inside shots AND help keep RM out of foul trouble. #21 can't block everyone and every shot. No offense to MU but the Cats are going to see a much better inside game in the near future and much better and quicker guards.

Not too upset with this one. There are lots of sloppy games around the country. Great performance by Stevenson.

If i'm Tubby, which i'm not but any way I would start the three freshman(Stevenson,Jasper, and Meeks). When they get in the game the intensity level changes and they do make plays. Also I don't see any of these guys leaving early so why not start them now and give them some experience, and in 2-3years they could but great. They defintly aren't going to play any worse with them in the lineup..JMO

Meeks and Stevenson should definitely see some SERIOUS playing time this year. Jasper seems a little lost at times and might need to be eased into the rotation. I feel that if Bradley grasps the fact that he is not the "offense" and that the offense starts with him he will be fine at point guard. But in this game he forced things (a couple bad 3 point shots) when the offense wasn't in position.

I see no improvements from last year's squad. Don't get me wrong - Stevenson had an impressive debut, Crawford appears that he might have a good season, and Morris played decent - but there is no flow, no tempo, and no intensity for the Cats.

 

Its one game, it doesn't predict how the whole season will be like. The exhibition games we were running and having tempo, and tonight when the refs weren't blowing the whistle every 5 seconds we seemed to be more in a flow. Dont get me wrong they have alot to work on from tonight, but I dont think you can say just after one regular season game that this team is not going to be improvement over last years...

Outside of Morris and Crawford. Meeks/Jasper/Stevenson are have more talent then any of our other players. Its called good recruits.
