What would any major P5 team gain from playing AT UCF? Why would any team do that?

Didn't UCF do the same thing with Louisville, reject a 2 for 1 deal? And Louisville was willing to play in the Wok.

Absolutely nothing. Par for the course from the non-P5 schools though. They like to whine that no one will play them, but then tuck tail and run as soon as one of them steps up to the pate.

UCF is coming to Louisville in 2021 and Louisville will go to Orlando in 2022.

It's odd. UCF keeps rejecting these deals and yet they want to be regarded with the P5.

UCF's arch rival is doing what they won't and getting action. Next season they open at home against Wisconsin, then travel to Georgia Tech. In 2022, they host Texas in the opener, then go to Gainesville the next week, and Louisville the third week. In 2024, they go to Texas, then host Louisville, and NC State.

 

Though not a P5 school, sandwiching in BYU next season, and in 2021 is not bad for national recognition, either. However, the eventual goal for the OOC schedule is 1 G5 3 P5 schools every year, not have any more FCS opponents. They will take all the 2 for 1s they can get.

 

Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Isn't the revenue garnered from neutral field contracts split between the 2 schools? Did Alabama get more for playing in Kickoff game than Louisville got? They get allotted so many tickets and then split the difference, yes?

It varies depending on the wording in each contract...

I could care less if Florida was offering them back to back years in the Swamp, if you do all the griping about how no one will play you and go as far as to hang fake banners, you take this game.

I’m with you. It really shouldn’t be this hard to root for the underdog. Everyone loves the underdog. We constantly find ourselves cheering for the underdog if we don’t have a dog in the fight. Yet I find it really hard to root for UCF. Outside of Michigan I’m not sure of a single team in college football that I would root against if they played UCF. Even a Bama/ UCF matchup would be a toss up to me as far as who I would like to see lose more. It’s not because I hate the little guy, or anything like that. I loved rooting for teams like Boise State, Utah, Houston, Cincinnati, etc. over the years because I liked the story and it’s fun to root for the underdog. It’s just UCF that I can’t stand.

The National Championship nonsense went a long way to making more people dislike them than pull for them, IMO. Between hanging fictional banners and claiming no one will play you while not taking games from P5 opponents, they've lost most of their underdog allure, IMO.

Texas and Louisville are both 2 for 1 deals with USF. I couldn't find info on the others. But 2 for 1 seems to be the norm, UCF just thinks they are above that for some reason.
