UCF gets offer from Gators

Featured Replies

So UCF should bend over and take it. Kick rocks...

100%. Don’t lie and say no one will play you every year. No, people will play you there just has to be something in it for that other school. What does UF get by playing UCF? Nothing. If they win no one cares, if they lose they’re a laughing stock. UCF doesn’t get to dictate terms.

They don’t mention it because it would change the narrative. Florida has no interest in making a fair offer, so they do something they know there is zero chance UCF would agree to and boom here we are. The P5 heavy national and regional media spin it to make UCF look bad for not making a terrible business decision, and the general public laps it up as if UCF won’t schedule Florida. Rinse and repeat...

If they think they can beat Florida then it’s a great business decision.

Mullen said it himself. A 2 for 1 with a game at UCF is standard for an SEC vs AAC type series. A 2 road, 1 neutral is a slap in the face...

It would be a slap in the face if it was another power 5 school. Florida doesn’t need UCF. Florida can and should dictate the terms of the game. It’s no different than Ohio State never playing UC at Nippert. If they ever did play UC in Cincinnati then it would be at PBS.

Except the only reason UC agreed to the deal is one game was contracted to be at Nippert and OSU bought it out. They wouldn't have agreed to the deal otherwise because it's a terrible deal. The buyout money did fund a large portion of the practice facility and bubble, so that was nice. Good effort though...

Buying out those games is relatively commonplace across college football though is it not?

Sure, and it isn't cheap. UC doesn't agree to the deal if there isn't a game at Nippert included. If OSU wants to pay a heavy price to get out of it, that's the cost of doing good business...

Well at least this way they can keep going undefeated and hang fake banners.

Those banners mean something when they beat the over hyped SEC!

Good business indeed. UC gets a game against Ohio State and gets paid to do it. What’s not to like?

Alot UC shouldn't do it. It gives Ohio State an easy way to recruit Cincinnati area kids.

Yes because Ohio State has a ton of difficulty recruiting kids from Cincinnati. That 90 minute drive is just a little bit outside of OSUs normal recruiting base...

I’d take a first week kick off game in Raymond James.

Florida already has a game scheduled in Raymond James Stadium. The second week in 2021. Not against the team from Oviedo, though.

I believe the buyouts are around 3 or 4 million dollars, now.

Is it a good deal for UCF? Probably not, assuming the 1 isn't at their place.

However, if you're going to beat the "no one will play us drum", you look horrible when you turn down chances to play a major P5 school. Hell, even if Florida had simply said, "you keep saying no one will schedule you, let's do it next year in the Swamp", UCF is a fraud if they turn it down. You want these schools to play you, you darn sure better accept when one of them extends an offer.

Who says not on their field? He offered to play in Orlando...isn't that where UCF is?

The school is in Oviedo, but close enough.
