Brohm was hit by a Louisville player as he released the ball, but I'm not sure I would say that caused the INT. I am sure it happened.

I felt sorry for Brohm. Did the Rutgers team give the game ball to the Cardinal offensive line which was impotent, to the Cardinal defensive line which was pitiful, or to the Cardinal secondary which was like swiss cheese at the wrong times?

 

Of course, Coach Petrino looked befuzzled the whole second half.

 

Very disappointing to blow a chance at the big time. U of L. and the Republicans performed in a similar manner this week. It sure dampened my interest in the upcoming bowl games.

Even Warrior32, who is positively bursting with joy after this game, has been on record as saying Brohm is a great QB. Anyone who talks him like that doesn't know the game.

 

And for the record, it is A)Not the first time ESPN has shown Jeff in Brian's ear, and B)It happens every game. As someone who has watched every Louisville game in person or on television since Brohm stepped on campus, why don't you just take my word for it.:thumb:

 

My thoughts on Brohm after last night's game:

 

 

Sure, Brian was running for his life on a lot of plays; but on other plays he was leaving the pocket early and just taking off. The pressure got to his head and he struggled with making throws. I do not mean this as a knock on the kid or UL, but it was probably one of the first times he has had to go 60 minutes against a really solid opponent (with a sound defense, you can spare me WVU). I know against Cincy he was pretty good, but not as spectacular as normal.

 

Does anyone think his knee is ever in the back of his head?

 

I will give a lot of credit to Rutgers defense as well.

:thumb: :laugh: :laugh: Brohm is a great QB, no question about it. Ram stated that Brohm was battered and beaten more than my statement that UL was outcoached in this game. He has a point but I think that one led to the other. Rutger's game plan was fantastic, they were better prepared and wanted it more....bottom line. As for warrior32, I am also a big UK fan and I have NO love lost for UL but I try to give UL credit on their football program. Now basketball is another story...................... :sssh: but that is not starting untill next Wend. for the Cats and since we (UK) have no football team I will for the most part concentrating on UK basketball and Ohio St. football.

One play in particular that I recall when UL had a WR running down the middle of the field with a LB on him who was a step behind and with his back to the QB. Brohm was not being pressured at the time and he looked at the WR, but instead of setting his feet and throwing it down the field, he tucked the ball and ran picking up 2-3 yards. The only weakness that I have ever really seen in Brohm's game is handling heavy pressure............even UK had him rattled in the second half of last year's game.

We also didn't get to see the coverage downfield because of the camera shot being where it is. That might have been the best decision. It might not have. But we just don't know.

Rutgers dominated the line play in the 2nd half...Brohm had no time to even look for an open receiver and they completely shut down the UL run game...Very impressive Rutgers defense...Once the home crowd got into it, it seemed to give the Scarlett Knights a big lift and they fed off it the entire 2nd half...I look for Rutgers to move up in the Top 8 or so and UL to move down in the 10-12 range..Theres still alot of football to be played and UL still has a good shot at a BCS bowl if they win out and a couple of 1loss teams lose...

With Rutgers playing man most of the night, and sending either a backer or a safety almost every play, I have to think that some WR's were open. Brohm got hit so many times last night that every pass play it looked like he was thinking run anytime he felt some pressure.

Just because I don't think Brian Brohm is a great quarterback doesn't mean I don't know the game. I think he is a very good quarterback that plays in an offensive system that makes him look better than he is. I would wager that any of these quarterbacks would do just as well in the same system against the same competition: Brady Quinn, Eric Ainge, JaMarcus Russell, Tyler Palko, Colt McCoy, John David Booty, Andre Woodson, Troy Smith and Chris Leak. Brohm missed 2 games but still has only 6 touchdown passes in 7 games with 4 interceptions, those are not exactly great numbers and it isn't like he doesn't get the opportunity he has 189 attempts (27 per game), his backup has 5 touchdowns in 69 attempts. Again I'm not saying he's average--just that he has a long way to go to be considered great.
