November 22, 20187 yr Nothing will ever beat stuffing for me, but back in my early childhood I'd swear up and down on the same principle for Mac and Cheese :lol2: which non-turkey item will you be looking forward to most this afternoon?
November 22, 20187 yr So much to love with a plateful of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with white turkey meat and sage dressing with sage gravy poured over everything, with real cranberry sauce (not the can), and green bean casserole, but as simple as it is I can't help it... I have to bury my face in a huge mound of mashed potatoes and gravy, and don't you just know that one mound is never enough. Comfort food at its best.
November 22, 20187 yr My mother's sage dressing balls covered in giblet gravy. I don't know the recipe, I only know I love them. Thankfully, my sister knows how to make them and we had Thanksgiving with her family last night.
November 22, 20187 yr Oyster dressing. Mashed potatoes and giblet gravy is a distant second. Same here-----love those O's.
November 22, 20187 yr I am going to go with Sweet Potato Casserole. 1000% correct. I love all kinds of food. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow BGPers. The best high school sports forum in the entire nation.
November 22, 20187 yr Author I am going to go with Sweet Potato Casserole. My mother has been making this ever since I was a child but as a picky eater I refused to even try it until I was about 16... I curse my young self for robbing myself of this fine dish! Will definitely savor some this afternoon.
November 22, 20187 yr Cornbread dressing that is homemade. None of the package stuff for me. Cover it in homemade turkey gravy. Again no bought gravy. Everything has to be homemade.
November 23, 20187 yr Mashed potatoes with gravy. My kids never liked mashed potatoes so I only make them on a Thanksgiving. One of my childhood favorites!
November 23, 20187 yr Oyster dressing. Mashed potatoes and giblet gravy is a distant second. Oyster dressing is gross!
November 23, 20187 yr Oyster dressing is gross! Them's fightin' words. Of course, being raised close to the Chesapeake Bay, oysters were a staple. Way back in the day, we could buy a bushel for three bucks, and start eating them on the way back home. Raw, with the salt water still dripping off of them. The only down side to oyster dressing is the dressing part.
November 23, 20187 yr I am going to go with Sweet Potato Casserole. Me too. I make it myself from my mom's recipe. Have made 3 pans of it this past week, one for work and two for different thanksgiving dinners. I have had people we who tell me they don't like sweet potatoes devour it like it was their job. There's usually nothing left in the pan when I make it. It's top notch.
