How often do you swap your avatar?

I have no idea why I picked the milk. I think it was just something really random. Changed it briefly a time or 2 maybe 12-13 years ago to be funny. But I’d say I’ve had the milk for 99.9% of my 15+ years here. No desire to ever change it. I hate when people change them on here:lol2:

Been using this same one for 16 years.

 

A couple of times I briefly changed it for the holidays to a Xmas alien holding a basketball, and then a martini drinking, cigar smoking alien for New Years Eve.

 

Back then I was more actively pursuing my hand at songwriting, and playing open mics, and to give myself a bit of distinction from the average acoustic guitar toting songwriter I would wear alien T-shirts when playing to more better be recognized as the alien dude.

 

Since at the time I was working this particular image, and I very much dig basketball, I thought that I'd combine them, and luckily I located this pic online that seemed to be just perfect for what I was going for.

Mine was blank for a long time. I liked the simplicity and I didn't know how to add one. I tried it once but the pic was too large (memory-wise).

 

Then I decided I should have an avatar so I added the current one--a pic of me from about 15 years ago. It just oozes "friendly," don't you think?

I used to change mine quite a bit. Original was the Warren Central High School school crest. Usually went with an FSU player around football season, and then whatever made me laugh. The current one is in that category - it makes me laugh. It's just the stupidest screen from Street Fighter II, and I decided I'd hop off the wheel for a while and keep it. I think it's been a few years now.

I had one or two before I found this one in the 16 years I have been a member. . To me it is a perfect avatar for me. I will never change it.

I'm currently on my second one in the 9+ years I've been here. Changed to it sometime around 2014 or 2015, I believe. I had this fella previously:

There are lots of folks who change up regularly, and other folks who do it less frequently (and consequently end up totally messing with my head for the next several weeks whenever I see them posting.. @HammerTime)

 

I can think back to a lot of folks who have had theirs for a LOOONG time too. @theguru has been Lex Luthor for as long as I've been here on BGP. @True blue (and gold) has been repping the Crimson Tide logo ever since we lost Alabama Larry here on the site. @NEERFAN has been rocking his 'Neers helmet for as long as I can remember. @00Rocket28 has been the milk man, and @Oldbird has been the running man for as long as I've been around.

 

What's your current avatar, and why? What's your philosophy on how often do you like to change things up?

Haha, that’s why I never changed mine for years. I hate when people do it. I’m going back to Kobe when the season starts. I think I’ve only ever used 4-5 total and the Kobe one was 90% of the time.

I think the running man is the only avatar I have ever had. In early days we didn't have any avatars, but I think I started using the running man once that feature was added. I bet I have had that one for 15 years.

 

Guru used Mr. Burns from the Simpsons for a long time.

 

The running man is classic BGP.

I used to change them a lot, but it became a lot harder and I just got used to keeping the same one for a while.

 

I’ve been with Dusty here for several years, and had the pic of the Appaloosa horses (same as my current Facebook pic) for a number of years before that.
