The thread didnt say top 5 accomplished coaches, this is just my opinion, thats what makes BGP the best!!!

1. Dale Mueller-Highlands(going to build a new building to put state title tropies in)

2. Bob Schiender-NCC(heard he has won a few games)

3. Bob Redman-Male(I'll take "athletes" for $100 Alex)

4. Sam Harp-Danville(7 titles in 17 or so years at school, pretty good percentage if you go for that sort of thing)

5. Mike Glaser-St X.(Tigers tough, beat teams much)

6. Bob Beatty-Trinity(luck of the Irish I guess) :)

7. Joe Morris-Mayfield(been in the state semi's more times than Pres. Bush has said something stupid) wow!!

8. Mike Holcomb-Breathitt Co.(dem dere mountain boyz can shoore chunk dat hogball around; and win a lot of games and titles too!!)

9. Tom Larkey-Rockcastle Co.(trips to Louisville seem to go through Mt. Vernon a lot)

10. Mike Jackson-Pikeville(Panthers pound people, play near perfection, produce prizes) sorry, couldn't think of a good word for trophies that started with a "p"!!

:)

Flattering, but I'd have to agree with most others on here that there's one name on there that should have many others above him in terms of what they've accomplished.

...maybe one day; but it takes some hardware to get on lists like these.

Dudley Hilton- Bell CO.

Phillip Haywood- Belfry

Sam Harp- Danville

Ivan McGlone- Russell

Dale Mueller- Highlands

Schnieder- N.C

BOb Redman- Male

I could go on and on about who should, but there are a few that shouldn't be listed.

Matt Jaggers- not yet

Mike Jackson- will be there someday.

Mike Halcomb ? not very consistent year in and year out.

Ken Roark- 10 or 12 years head coach and 4 good years. 5 years not good

Joey Downs of Bardstown would merit some consideration. In his 17th season, just got his 153rd victory, 3 state title appearances, 1 state title, 5 region titles, and his winning percentage is higher than that of his predecessor, the legendary Garnis Martin. Also a long-time coach of Kentucky all-star team.

Rodenberg from covcath and Tom Spritzky from Dixie. Although Dale Mueler is good I believe others have the edge on him this year

Bob Beatty, like him, or hate him, has to be included in any argument when the subject is top coaches in the state....

2000-2006

75 - 11 - .872

Playoffs - 25 - 2 - .926

4 Rings in 6 years

...what also is comendable is the list of teams that have beaten Bob and Co...

Highlands, Male, St. Xavier, Manual, Seneca, MBA, Dixie Heights, Cincy St. Xavier

Cant leave off Joey Downs of Bardstown and Mark Brown of John Hardin

Rodenberg, what has he done? Spritzky not yet, hasn't done anything to make any major noise.

Mueller, Schneider, Harp, Redman, Glaser, Beatty, Downs (no order, all good)

Mike Yeagle if were talking about coaches in general. He did more in a decade than most do in a career.

Hilton

Mueller

Scheider

Haywood

Redmond

Really, its too hard to just have 5.

Im leaving off Larkey, Holcomb, and Harp, and so many other good ones!!

The one coach I do know about is Coach Hilton. He built a program at Breathitt Co which is still going stong. Then he came to Bell Co were football had been dreadful and built a powerhouse in the Mtns. Then he goes to Bourbon Co. and wins a State title, as he did in Bell Co, and had 4 good years. No one else has been able to win at Bourbon besides Hilton.

Hilton is a strong top 5 coach in my mind!

Ken Roark- 10 or 12 years head coach and 4 good years. 5 years not good

How did you come to that conclusion???

Let's take a look at his resume!!

127-38 over the last 13 years (9.7 W/2.9 L) ,1 State Title ,4 regional titles and 8 district titles.

Prior to Kenny Roark 90-93 the Jackets went a miserable 21-22 and didn't win a playoff game and even missed the playoffs in 1993.

We all have to remember the construed views that people have of Northern Ky sports. Coaches from the Eastern and the southern part of the state don't matter. I work in Northern Ky and I hear it all the time. The sun rises and sets in Northern Ky just incase anyone else in the state was wondering. No one is as good and will never be as good as Northern Ky teams. We all from the rest of the state just need to concede that fact and not even argue with them they know it all. Forget about Ivan McGlone, Randy Vanderhoof, Bill Tom Ross, Marsh from Ashland Billy Goldsmith They all are not very good. You need to look at all aspects of coaching ( concern for kids, love of game, personal humbleness). It is just not their win and losses there is a lot more to it.

Bob Schneider - NCC

Dudley Hilton - Bell Co.

Philip Haywood - Belfry

Bob Redmen - Male

Sam Harp - Danville

Thats the order they are in wins and these guys have done it for the LONG HAUL - at least 24 years experience with them all.

Curious why you wuld only list public school coaches?

Why would you take a shot at the NKY coaches? Basically you are saying they are not deserving of making the list. If you have lived in NKY all your life you would know why we come across as know it alls and can do no wrong attitude. It is because once you get North of Walton we basically don't exist to the rest of the state. We have been hearing for yrs that we should be part of OH.

Back to the thread though, your coaches are very well deserving as all the men that have been mentioned. Remember, these are personal opinions as everyone has a right to, even the people from NKY. Since you love NKY so much, maybe you should look into moving up here.:D

Wow, now we are getting into the public/private thing. That really surprises me!
