February 20, 20188 yr I don't think it's just about trademarks, it's about Louisville being stripped of a title for rules infractions. The NCAA can still keep them from trying to recognize the title on the sly...no matter how they try to do it. NCAA may not say anything but they made UK change a media guide because it referenced a number of wins that were not recognized by the NCAA...so I think they will shoot down any cutesy ideas UofL tries to circumvent this ruling. It is no different than UCF hanging their National Championship banner. They just can't call themselves NCAA Champions.
February 20, 20188 yr I would almost guarantee another banner goes up. They cant use NCAA obviously, or any other phrase they have trademarked. They will return trophies distributed by the NCAA and things of that nature, but they can't keep you from hanging something up that doesn't have their name on it. That's what UL should do in my opinion. I expected this to happen, but just don't really agree with the NCAA on this.

February 20, 20188 yr Short-sighted and dumb move by a dinosaur organization soon to be relegated to the annals of history. Team A, a school clearly caught with its hand in the cookie jar, cooperates with NCAA, conducts its own investigation, self-imposes a postseason ban on a team that actually could have made noise in that tournament (not a Syracuse self-imposed ban on a barely bubble team) and other sanctions and throws itself on the mercy of the NCAA. Team B, also clearly caught with its hand in the cookie jar, obfuscates, delays, denies, fabricates, muddies the waters and otherwise acts in a recalcitrant manner toward the NCAA throughout the long, arduous process. Team A gets hammered. Team B gets off completely and wins a championship. If you're called by the NCAA wanting to investigate something at your campus, what do you do? Bruce Pearl has learned the lesson after being burned once. Make 'em prove every dang thing. Make 'em prove the sun comes up in the East and sets in the West. Don't cooperate. Don't facilitate. Don't self-govern. Make it take as long as it possibly can. At worst, whatever happens will be way down the road. At best, you'll never serve a day in your life. :puke::puke::puke:

February 20, 20188 yr No it won't. They won it. Can't change it. With ineligible players. UK could ask Willie, Karl and Anthony to play this March but that banner would come down as well.
