strongopenyon
An excellent piece done by Mark Cornelison of the Lexington Herald Leader about Sam Simpson and his Henry Clay Blue Devil football team. http://www.heraldleaderphoto.com/multimedia/henryclay/football.html
PoppaBear
Looks like to me that the piece should have been done for the Lafayette Generals....

HC50
Maybe so, but lafayette isn't 21-3 the past two seasons.
RockPride
^ Right...if it weren't for Simpson and some of his "decisions" they could have a better record than listed.
4THQUARTER
Maybe so, but lafayette isn't 21-3 the past two seasons. Maybe so...but out of the three losses that Henry Clay has, two were handed to them by Lafayette. Just a thought...
94 Camel
Henry Clay has lost some football games the last 14 years that they never should have lost. Many of which were to Campbell County.

Well said RockPride... the truth can hurt... lots of talent on that Henry Clay team through the years, especially at the skill positions. Is it the lack of fundamental football discipline which keeps HC from achieving to the highest level? Or possibly, the lack of developmental leagues in the Bluegrass region to teach these kids the fundamentals of blocking and tackling at a young age, thus, there is often a lot of remedial work that the coaches have to take on at the high school level ... maybe this topic is best left for another thread.
