I’m glad DA has ascended to the next tier of elite players. He’s a great one. I’d wager that a UK offer comes on the August 1st visit. That said, I still think he’s the #2 kid in the class in the state. David Johnson and DA have separated themselves from the pack. Tandy is 3rd. But a very distant 3rd.

To give some insight on what a great kid Dontaie is, he called a coach of a school that heavily recruited and offered to tell them he was declining the offer so they could move on with their recruiting. I'm sure others have done the same, but I understand it really bothered Dontaie to cut ties with this school and coach. I don't know what school or coach and you can draw your own conclusions about the timing and what that decision may imply.

From a talent standpoint, he’s there. As a player, yes. Distant. Johnson and Allen do so many things for their teams that don’t show up on the stat sheet. Tandy is a volume shooting guard packaged as a PG because of his height.

That’s debatable as well but my only point is that it isn’t a very distant gap between #2 and #3 regardless of who your #2 and #3 are.

Ok so Kentucky offers Dontaie a walk-on spot, then what? You go and see minuscule playing time for about 2-3 years maybe a few minutes as a senior? He's competing for playing time against players all over the world. Go to Western, Northern, or Eastern and be a hometown hero where you can be an influence on the team, because it's not going to happen at Kentucky.

I think the top 3 are all really close and they've separated themselves from number 4. Also why does everyone assume that Dontaie can't play at UK? The scouts at 247 think he's just as good as a guy who has been committed to Kentucky for awhile.

Yep, I knew a player could visit on his dime as many as he wanted, but I couldn't remember the limit on the official visits...was thinking that it was more than 5, but now I know.
