December 19, 20178 yr I know a lot of us don't care about what we receive, but for what you do get, do you prefer to be surprised or do you prefer having a pretty good idea what's under the tree for you?
December 19, 20178 yr Author I like to know what I'm getting so I don't have to pretend to like something I dislike.
December 19, 20178 yr Can I answer both? I like know what it is, but not specifically. For example, I like to receive: Movies Beers (especially once I've never had before) Books Gift Cards But not specifically knowing what those things are.
December 19, 20178 yr Cheesy as it may be, my favorite thing to get around the holidays is an abundance of good vibes. Well-wishes on career and personal goals or troubles mean so much more to me than just about any item I could unwrap. The one exception is my grandma. On top of offering the above 365 days per year, she has an excellent understanding of my taste in clothes and, without fail, has the gift I most look forward to opening every Christmas.
December 19, 20178 yr I'd say it's about half and half for me. If I ask for something specific, I like knowing that I'm getting that. But I also like having a couple presents that I have absolutely no idea what they are. Kinda keeps that feel of "A kid on Christmas morning" alive.
December 19, 20178 yr As a gift from my wife and kids, I told them years ago to just get me a golf membership to the course I play regularly. That way its easier for them and its something that I will use.

December 19, 20178 yr Surprise me. But, I'd really rather not have a gift. I'd rather you be there for me when I need help throughout the year. I'm lucky. My kids are very aware of what I prefer.
December 19, 20178 yr I prefer the gift of quality time with people I love (my wife and kids primarily). I'm not opposed to Corona Light, however.
December 19, 20178 yr I hate knowing what I'm getting. Takes the little bit of fun that there is out of it when you know.
