I guess we can say that every home game the camels win is because of the announcer. The players sit there and wait for him to call the play.

And rumor is speakers are in the players helmets to hear all the details too. Since legend is on to something perhaps he can point out which direction these illegal words are coming out of the speakers, that face the crowd and not the field. There is nothing understood on the pa system on the field. This is why your comments are funny and incorrect.

I can't believe this thread has gone this far since I read the first few posts just last night. I can't wait for Friday. :lol: I'll definitely make the effort to listen to the announcer.

I believe this needs looked into although I have never heard the pa from the defensive side of the field.

Would everyone be as mad if a parent brought a megaphone or a bull-horn and yelled pass or run or QB or whatever?

As a regular at Campbell County and reading this, I see posters starting to make things up. A flag last year? Better name the game because it didn't happen. As for LSURock as for junk in sports, great, look forward to not hearing any overboard rock propaganda, etc. at a home game! He makes a neat deal out of great plays after it is done. He cheers the touchdown and the first down, what is wrong with that. And if any posters have problems with it, start taking it to Ft. Thomas with the cannon, many places with the bell, some with fireworks and not to mention radio announcers who are guilty as sin. He points out the visiting team success with first down and POINTS OUT the Camel first down. If your team does not do that at your home game go talk to your lazy sports directors and make them do better.

One parent doing something classless opposed to an entire team and city celebrating on a touchdown. You can't spike the ball, but shooting off a cannon is fine. What is classy about shooting off a cannon after a touchdown when the score is 64-7???????????????????????????????

Wow! This thread has come a long way in 24 hours. I didn't know a PA Announcer could generate three pages of dialogue! Anyone who has not heard Mr. Rose call a Camels football game really should refrain from commenting. While he bleeds purple with his calls, it is all done in good fun and he really adds a lot to your Campbell County football game experience.

 

I am not doing any games for NKSports this year. I have done two Brossart Football games and of course will do a full slate of twenty-five or more Brossart Mustangs and selected Lady Mustangs basketball games.

 

I did four Camel football games last year. East Jessamine, Lebanon, Scott, and Simon Kenton. They were charging to listen to the broadcasts back then so I don't think we had a large listenership. The replays of those games are now available for free at http://www.northernkentuckysports.com if anyone would like to revisit them.

 

Since then they have joined with the Enquirer they are now broadcast free of charge on http://www.nky.com

 

 

Thanks for reminding us that those games are on the web, that should answer the question if the PA announcer routinely does play by play during the play. This should put this debate to rest. So if anyone wants to hear for himself or herself they have that opportunity. I will go back and listen for that now infamous call by Greg calling for the QB keeper. Frankly this is getting comical in nature....if you come to see the Camels in Alexandria and do not like our announcer well I did not like the cannon in Ft Thomas, the bottles filled with rocks/coins in Boone etc. but I respected that schools flavor of spirit and did not "rip" it like some seem to do about our PA announcer. We feel he adds fun and spirit to the game for all. He is a good man always acknowledging the opponent's teams cheerleaders and fans and bringing a personal touch to our games.

Unfortunately, instead of discussing the positive attributes that the man brings to the game/experience and encourage more of the same at other venues, there are always detractors who want to instill negative criticisms or siimply be contrary.

He's been there for a year and a half. If you aren't a CC fan why have you heard him several times?

If the Mustang faithful are saying he's not affecting the game, then the issue should be closed.

As someone who played at CCHS, I neve once heard the announcer during a game. Never ever. Not at home, not on the road. If you are on the field (not the sideline) you can't let something like an announcer distract you.

 

I haven't heard the announcer so I'm not going to talk about how bad or good he is until I hear for myself (which I might not). He sounds entertaining and combined with Bob Klines(Basketball), CCHS has to have the most animated announcers in the state.

 

I never once heard what an announcer had to say, but I heard that cannon in Ft. Thomas over and over again one night and if the announcer can't cheer, root, be loud and vocal, than that thing shouldn't be allowed either.

There is a way for an opposing team to silence the cannon. Stop the Birds from hanging 64 on ya. Whatever game you are refering the visitors can only blame themselves for multiple cannon shots ( can I say that? ) An over enthusiastic PA guy can be stopped by the home school or by pulling the plug, the visistors would have no control over that. So visiting teams can control some things and some things they cannot. So your cannon problem (can I say that? ) sounds like a personal one to me. Get over it
