Campbell County Public Address...

Featured Replies

I guess it took a winning season by Campbell Co to bring out the Camel haters All Tell, LSURock, The Scribe, and LCRW.

"Campbell County hater" ? Don't flatter yourself.

When was the last time LSURock's team lost to the Camels?

I don't know that they ever played, but I'm willing to bet it was a Camel loss if they ever did (or ever do for that matter). FYI, I don't know your team well enough to hate them, but your announcer sounds like he needs to get it together.

Maybe you should have read post #89 before posting. :D

Now about that canon.......(yet another attempt to stir the pot. ).

That's dead on!!!!!

Is the above quote (of shooter) from this thread? I don't see it anywhere.
This thread is out of control! Once again, like many of the threads on BGP, how is this thread doing any good for anyone! It has taken a very happy moment for the Campbell County players, coaches and fans and turned it into something without value. The PA does not do play by play of the football games! If his announcing is the reason Campbell County football is having a successful season then why didn't we think of this strategy years ago! The reason we are having a successful season is because of a "BELIEF" that the coaches, players and fans are experiencing! I look forward to each and every week that I hear Mr. Rose announcing because I know he truely wants an amazing atmosphere at the Pyramid! Oh yea, he also gives praise to the opposing teams cheerleaders and fans!

So I take it that you are in love with exclimation points....

Where were the complaints when Campbell was losing games?

Where was the announcer when Campbell was losing?????? The correlation between Campbell's success and the "hating" of the announcer is absolutely ridiculous because he wasn't there when they were losing.

I take it your team lost to Campbell?

Excuse you? Yes we lost, and I got over it a long long time ago. I don't care if we were beating Campbell by 1000000000 if someone announces the play by play I'm not going to be happy about it. Nice way to show some class though Mr. whodey.

Greg's a class act, who's very excited (and rightfully so), that his Camels have finally turned things around, and are on their way to the playoffs. He's a very funny guy, and I'm sure his personality comes through in his broadcasting. He's also a VERY feverish Campbell County supporter who I'm sure is relishing in their season; but I doubt is going "beyond the rules" in his announcing duties?? I'm sure some sour grapes are involved here, as many "assumed" a victory when they saw the Camels on their schedules for the last several years.

Regarding not hearing the PA system on the field, I'm assuming you're kidding?? Like most PA systems, you can hear it miles away; so its hard to believe its not audable on the field (that is the purpose isn't it??)?? It's not hard to know when a game is going on in Alexandria (or elsewhere for that matter). As long as he's adding "color" to the game, let them have their fun. If he affects the game, I would assume the officials can handle that!!

The issue isn't the kind of guy the announcer is or who the team he announces is. As far as him being funny, I don't care if Will Ferell is announcing the game NOBODY has the right to announce during the play. He can say "FIRST DOWN" all he wants and I could care less. Anything announced before/after the play is alright by me, but he DOES impact the game during the play, seriously. I played last year when he was announcing and he told the defense what was going on. You can disagree all you want, but the fact is you can hear it and react to it.

What game was that?

Originally I put it in but I had second thoughts so I almost immediately editted it out but not before it was quoted.

Your right, they are directed so you can hear them on the field. I've been there too. He does do play by play, and I don't like him or his announcing style. He is not a class act towards the opposition, and not conducting himself the way I believe one should in a sporting event when representing an organization. It usually sounds more like an And1 tournament. It is not a pleasant experience to sit thru his games. It's reminds me more like a historians rewriting history to follow their view point on the events, not a simple assesment. I know the type of retterect I will hear when I go to a Camels game. I block him out and ignore him as much as possible. I've been going to games at the middleschool since when it was a high school. I have never sat thru a game that he was like the average announcer. I have never considered him a hoot, more of a............. For the most part he is tolerable. But I have sat thru more than one game that I'd have rather gone to see a dentist than listen to him.

:thumb: He is over the line and comes across as unsportsmanlike.

He is not over the line at all. You guys have to be kidding me. The only thing he does is get the fans to be loud on 3rd down. He does not effect the game play at all. I have played there many of times and there is just no way that you can react to what the PA is saying and then go make the play for a lost or even for a short gain, it just cant happen. And if your a good football player you know this. I have never once ever heard of any body listening to the PA and then going to make a play, are you kidding me that just doesnt happen.

Are you brodcasting any games this year Mustang?

Wow! This thread has come a long way in 24 hours. I didn't know a PA Announcer could generate three pages of dialogue! Anyone who has not heard Mr. Rose call a Camels football game really should refrain from commenting. While he bleeds purple with his calls, it is all done in good fun and he really adds a lot to your Campbell County football game experience.

I am not doing any games for NKSports this year. I have done two Brossart Football games and of course will do a full slate of twenty-five or more Brossart Mustangs and selected Lady Mustangs basketball games.

I did four Camel football games last year. East Jessamine, Lebanon, Scott, and Simon Kenton. They were charging to listen to the broadcasts back then so I don't think we had a large listenership. The replays of those games are now available for free at http://www.northernkentuckysports.com if anyone would like to revisit them.

Since then they have joined with the Enquirer they are now broadcast free of charge on http://www.nky.com
