What is classy about shooting off a cannon after a touchdown when the score is 64-7???????????????????????????????

Can you answer that any other way than "There is nothing classy about it!!"

You don't know what you are talking about. He is new to this and before the end of last year he had never done it at any level. So you need to check your moon and your memmory.

 Seeing how you seem to know, who were the previous announcers that would have graced the airwaves. Please include pee wee freshman and JV over the last ten to fifteen years.

I don't know about Red Devils, but Geoff Besecker, Mike Henry, and Bill Ecklre (sp?) were announcers at CCHS at some point and time.

That's not the way I answered it.

But, let's stick to the subject of the thread. :thumb:

I am very interested to hear about the Red Devils. As I'm pretty sure that he did there games. Also I believe he may have done some freshman and JV games over the years. I do not go to every game. I never said I did, just that I have heard him before. I find it hard to believe that he has NEVER done announcing before, but if that is the case, then I apologize. My memory is pretty good and his name is one that stands out. If I have attached it incorrectly than I would like to clear it up. I am not disputing that he sarted doing the varsity last season, but I am still not convinced that he did not do other games at the school.

Convince me.

Greg have NEVER done any red devils games. Also you can ask him yourself he just started annoucning last year. Now also last he did do freshman and jv games, also did middle school games. But he started doing all of this kinds of games last year.

The other guy was a much older guy, don't know his name, but he was hard to hear. From what I understand,he took a couple weeks off last year to go watch his son play a sport in college, Greg stepped in and has been doing it since. I didn't mean to come on so strong with you. I usually like reading your post, you always have some good things to say. But this was getting under my skin with some people being totally wrong about such a good guy. He is very entertaining, but if a team is losing I guess I can see how it can bother them, as things have bothered us when we lose at other fields(which happened alot in the past years). Greg is doing nothing wrong , and he loves his Camels. Things are changing for the good in Camel land.

This thread is out of control! Once again, like many of the threads on BGP, how is this thread doing any good for anyone! It has taken a very happy moment for the Campbell County players, coaches and fans and turned it into something without value. The PA does not do play by play of the football games! If his announcing is the reason Campbell County football is having a successful season then why didn't we think of this strategy years ago! The reason we are having a successful season is because of a "BELIEF" that the coaches, players and fans are experiencing! I look forward to each and every week that I hear Mr. Rose announcing because I know he truely wants an amazing atmosphere at the Pyramid! Oh yea, he also gives praise to the opposing teams cheerleaders and fans!

Well help me out, who would have been the jerk that I'm thinking of. I know this guy did pee wee games. I could have sworn he did others too. Who is it that I have him confused with. Please don't tell me you don't know.

I believe that CC football is doing well because of the coaching staff and players. Both are a quality group of people. But I also know what I have experienced in the past at CC. So Great win last Friday CC! and someone please let me in on who the guy was that was very similar in persona to the individual we are discussing in the negative comments about the PA announcer..

I'm stating my opinion that public address announcers shouldn't call play by play over the PA. I'm not singling out anyone or any school. I've never been to a Campbell County game. If he's not doing play by play, then so be it. But any PA announcer from any school shouldn't do this.

Is there a rule? Not that I know of. Just like there isn't a specific rule saying the band can't play during a live ball. (I've seen this)

No specific rule that says cheerleaders must kneel when a player is injured instead of leading cheers for the other team. (Seen this one too)

No specific rule that says PA announcers should be allowed to verbally agree or disagree with a flag (Seen this one also).

I've never said it was against the rules. I just don't think it should be allowed. Who has the power to enforce this? The football coach and AD.

In Ashland's game last night the back official made the Ashland band quit playing just as the play was about to start. I could see where this would be a hinderance to the offense but Ashland was on offense and at home.

As far as the subject at hand, I agree that the announcer should not be calling play by play while it unfolds as this IMO could influence the actions of the players on the field, but as far as what he says before and after the play, that is another story within reason of course.

And no, I am not a Campbell Co hater either.

Well im sorry fellow, i cant help you out. I do now know the man you speak off. But i can tell you one thing, im sure the man was not a JERK. Are you mad b/c the PA gets alil exicted when the home team gets a first down. Well then you might not want to go to any UK game or Bengal Game, or well any other stadium for that matter.

Oh, I'm sorry I thought this was the football forum. It sounds like a soccer argument.

None of the people you list would have a reason to "hate" the Camels.

We all need to keep the conversation on the subject and not aimed at each other.

First of all if you're going to call me out, at least get the name correct. Secondly what possible reason would I have to hate anyone, much less Campbell Co. I'm from Ashland, Ky. I belive the last time Ashland played Campbell Co. was my Junior year way back in 1982, and we beat them rather easily in a playoff game. If a PA announcer does play by play during the game, it's wrong. I don't care what school he represents. If Ashland's PA man was doing it, I would say the same thing.

Why does an opinion opposite yours automatically qualify as being a "hater"?

First of all, I never mentioned Campbell County in any of my posts. My posts were general in nature. Second, you can check the archives because this topic comes up every year. And every year, my opinion is the same. The PA announcer (regardless of school) should not be talking during the play and should not be doing play by play over the PA system. Period. Regardless of what the school the PA announcer is from.

Sorry for the confusion but it appears that the three of you understood every word I posted but missed my point entirely! I "called out" those I listed specifically because I thought it would be understood that they would not have an axe to grind against the Camels and therefore represent objective opinions from other parts of the state. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Now about that canon.......(yet another attempt to stir the pot. ).

That's dead on!!!!!
