Originally I put it in but I had second thoughts so I almost immediately editted it out but not before it was quoted.

This could be the first time i have heard of people going to a game just to here the PA announcer

Thank You!

I guess we can say that every home game the camels win is because of the announcer. The players sit there and wait for him to call the play.

No you can't say that. That is one of the most stupid assumptions I've ever heard. Nobody's said that in this thread. The fact is that he talks during the play. If you've ever played you would know that while you are in the play and a booming voice comes in and gives you advice you will listen. For example, in another stadium where there is no play by play announced, a coach will routinely yell things while the play is going on. "Stay outside" is a good example because my coach once yelled it at me and I did exactly what he said. Or another example that is more relevant. In most schools the players that are not on the field will yell pass ball calls. I.e. when it is a run they will run, when it is a pass they will yell pass and when the ball is in the air they will yell ball. Now the players don't wait to listen for the calls to react because that’s the stupidest thing you can do, but while playing when they hear "run" or "pass" they CAN and WILL react to it. Now an announcer is much louder than the collective yells of 50 some odd kids so he DOES affect the game. I am not saying that Campbell wins games because of the announcer because that's not true. They win games because they are a very good football team, but the fact of the matter is that he doesn't need to announce the games the way he does. If this many people are complaining and it’s this big an issue how can you just blow it off as no big deal???

Ok...I am tired of this. Who has the rules book? Is it against the rules to be saying anything, whether it be "The QB backs up to make the pass" or "Gee, the stars look pretty tonight", WHILE THE BALL IS IN PLAY?

If the Mustang faithful are saying he's not affecting the game, then the issue should be closed.

Agreed!! They should know how hard it is to get the green and purple faithful to agree on something!! :D I may have to go to the next game just to hear Greg in action again (or I could open the window if it's that loud)!!

Are you kidding me? Even if it isn't an official written rule, is there any other football announcer on the planet that announces during game play?

Well, if it isn't a rule, then there is not a lot that anyone can do about it. I don't know about all other announcers on the planet, but ours does not announce during the play. But then again, we do shoot off fireworks after each of our touchdowns (we've been blessed enough to need to go through several boxes of them this year:D ), so some on here would say that we have no class also.

Shooting off cannons is a tradition and there is nothing wrong with it, but that discussion is for another thread.

Me, too! So do the little kids that don't yet understand football, but when the fireworks go off, their eyes light up and they know that something good has happened.

Wonder what the little kids do when they hear Mr. Rose announcing during the play?

This thread has more than run its course.

Again, for the record, I really thought the PA was a riot and it added to my enjoyment of the game.
