Campbell County Public Address...

I understand him trying to be inovative(sp) but I just think he should not give play by play, I'm not bitter at all, and I didn't say that the defense was just going to let the QB go. If you look in other threads on here, I have praised CC, in that I think they have one of the best programs in NKY 4A and a great defense, I just believe the announcer should not comment during a play. I wish that some of the other programs in the area had the coaches you all have and the program that is being built (I say that not knowing exactly what you all have coming up). I totally support the direction the program is headed in and I am not bitter, I just believe the announcer should not talk during the play.

I agree. No PA announcer should speak while the play in underway. Period.

Point taken......if he talked routinely or more than that once I could see the negative discussion but a single mistake should be overlooked and should not override all the positives of his enthusium for the program and the kids. Could it have been an open mike situation and one of the other gentlemen in the booth blerted it out; I ask that because frankly I did not hear it at that game in question, maybe I was focused on the game and not what was said. But whatever the situation, I am proud of our boys and the program. Go Camels and good luck the rest of the season.

Where were the complaints when Campbell was losing games?

Exactly.:thumb:

You all don't seem to realize that this is not part of the game. You all think its neat and cool, but it is wrong. The announcer cannot have an effect on the outcome of the game and this crap should not be allowed. How can you justify telling the defense that the QB is going to run it? How can you justify telling the defense that its a fake?

What crap??? On the field you have no idea what the PA is saying. You dont have a clue, you cant hear any of it when your trying yourself to stop the offense. The PA has no effect at all for the defense, ZERO EFFECT.

When is the last time you played against Campbell Co. As a player last year I can tell you that he EFFECTS the game. On the field you have no idea what the fans are saying, but the PA can clearly be heard by all. While Campbell is on defense he routinely calls play by play which is a joke. And as far as it being an "accident" that he calls out plays, that is the most rediculous excuse I've ever heard. So if an ofensive tackle holds someone can he just say he made a mistake and move on? Or how about if there is a play action and a defensive player is told that it is a pass and the defensive player rushes the QB and not the RB and causes the QB to fumble, is that just a mistake. "Oops I droped the ball it was an accident. Can I have it back?"

Routinely??? Come on, just how many games have you attended? Give it up. And back to the original question from Guru.......I do appreciate and think that the PA announcer at CCHS is a riot and does a great job informing and entertaining the crowd (not the players) and obviously if you are an opposing team and you lose to the Camels you may not agree and may begin to exaggerate the truth and begin to blame the PA announcer for the loss, not the execution of the Camels. And by the way Guru, thanks for coming to the game and getting those great photos of the boys on both teams. Your efforts do not go unnoticed as well.

PS......

I hope you did not yell out to our defense last night to give them any instructions on the activities of the offense.;)

I guess it took a winning season by Campbell Co to bring out the Camel haters All Tell, LSURock, The Scribe, and LCRW.

I take it your team lost to Campbell?

When was the last time LSURock's team lost to the Camels?

None of the people you list would have a reason to "hate" the Camels.

We all need to keep the conversation on the subject and not aimed at each other.

Why does an opinion opposite yours automatically qualify as being a "hater"?

First of all, I never mentioned Campbell County in any of my posts. My posts were general in nature. Second, you can check the archives because this topic comes up every year. And every year, my opinion is the same. The PA announcer (regardless of school) should not be talking during the play and should not be doing play by play over the PA system. Period. Regardless of what the school the PA announcer is from.

I think some people need to grow some thicker skin instead of using "hater" as a retort just because the opinion is different.

Let's throw out the arguement over whether or not the Campbell PA guy is calling plays and whether the players can hear this. My question for those people are, do you think a PA announcer should talk and provide play by play while the ball is in play? To me, this is the same as the band playing while the ball is live. I don't remember anyone supporting the band on that arguement. What makes the PA guy yapping OK?

I remember when Mayfield played Jackson TN North I believe. The announcer was advertising snake-skin belts during timeouts and halftime I believe. I think he was even saying things right before our center would snap the ball, lol. He was pretty funny to listen to, I didn't really agree with it, but Mayfield was smoking em pretty much and I guess he had to make light of things somehow.

Wait a minute, check old threads and there were complaints about this a couple of years ago, along with the band. Interesting pattern, seems the every other year schedule brings out the same malcontents. Could it be the same belly aching people who have taken a Camel game for granted now find it to be a different story over the past few years? As for being able to hear on the field and play the game, yeah right. PA system is strictly facing the stands and the visitor bench is across the field. Give it up people. Your defense this year needs to be more on the field than on the stands!:thumb:

The better question to settle this silly debate is what is the rule. Plain and simple. Is he breaking the rule or not? If he is, where is the officiating crew? If he is not, what is this all about?

I don't remember the game for sure but I think it was the Scott game, this is what I was told the week after when I was there watching a game. But, I think you missed the point. He is calling out plays as they unfold, not waiting until the play ends like you are supposed to. You don't even have that crap in pro-sports, and you shouldn't have it in high school. Let the players play, don't call out the plays so they know what is going on.

First of all you should know what you are talking about before you put things on here! That flag was on the scoreboard keeper for putting 2 minutes too many on the clock when the teams came out after halftime. Second of all quit spreading rumors that Greg calls play by play on the PA. He does no such thing, I know Greg very well and I have attended every game he has done since he started. He tries very hard to get the people excited before and after plays. He brings excitement to what used to be a very dead stadium. If something is wrong with that, then they need to get rid of cannons ,bells and fireworks. The only time anyone says anything about this is when the Camels win. You are right guru he is a riot, and makes for a great atmosphere in Alexandria.
