October 9, 200619 yr And didn't Torre coach the Cards before he coached the Yanks, and wasn't he horrible? I guess a 200 million dollar pay roll can make anyone look good, heck I could coach the Yanks to 85-90 wins...

I guess a 200 million dollar pay roll can make anyone look good, heck I could coach the Yanks to 85-90 wins...He's been with several teams... Mets - 709 Games · 286W - 420L = .405% Atlanta - 486 Games · 257W - 229L = .529% Cardinals - 706 Games · 351W - 354L = .498% Yankees
October 9, 200619 yr Maybe winning 6 World Series would do the trick... If Sweet Lou is the manager I doubt that the love affair between he & the Boss would last six years.
October 9, 200619 yr I would fire Joe Torre too. He's only won 4 rings:sleep: there in 10 yrs, who could settle for that:creepy:
October 9, 200619 yr Don't know that it will for sure. Cashman likes him and could be doing some lobbying for him as we speak. Joe has 1 year left, so they may get through this one last one if Cashman has anything to say about it. ARod will be back as well. Who else can afford him?
October 9, 200619 yr ARod will be back as well. Who else can afford him? We covered that in the ARod thread. He's very affordable for several teams because the Rangers are still paying about half of the $25 million salary...
October 10, 200619 yr I am 1 for 1 so far on my predictions on who would be gone in the clubhouse! Hate to see it happen but I love watching the progressing fall of the Evil Empire! They may be down, but it will only be for a short period of time. Anybody remember Bill Simmons saying a while back that with the Yankees stealing A-Rod away from them, that the Yankees inherited the Curse Of The Babe along with it? Thought that was kind of funny. I'm kind of indifferent about the Yanks. I cheered for them back in the day, but that had more to do with Donny Baseball than anything. It has been fun watching different teams recently.
October 10, 200619 yr If Sweet Lou is the manager I doubt that the love affair between he & the Boss would last six years. It would if he could win titles every year... ...not likely though.
October 10, 200619 yr Heard a report on Jim Rome yesterday that said the longer the Boss thinks about it, the better chance he retains him. The Boss was quoted as he is thinking it over and had not talked to anyone in the Yankees organization about Torre's status. I agree that the longer Steinbrenner takes the better chance that Torre returns. He seems to make pretty emotional decisions that come back to bite him in the butt later.
October 10, 200619 yr Torre still has one more year on his contract as well. If that makes any difference? And in NY, it doesn't. Sweet Lou will have to wait another season.
October 10, 200619 yr I thought you guys might get a kick out of Martin Fennelly's column in the Trib this morning.... Lou Piniella, Tampa Lou, Sweet Lou, might be back managing a professional baseball team for the first time in a year - four years if you throw in his three years with the Devil Rays. Boss Could Be Itching To Make A Change
