Torre himself admitted last week he didn't have to do anything but draw up the batting chart... Hard to blame the manager when with that concept, anyone can go coach the team.

You are correct in that statement Hangman, however I do not think that just anyone can manage that mesh/combo of ego's and have them play as a team as Torre has through the years.

The guy's a great coach. He's proven it. But money does not always buy championships. And the Yankees seem to think that all you have to do is throw money in the mix and it will equal a world championship. Paying players like A-Rod zillions of dollars only means you have a spoiled, over-paid player who has so much money he has lost the initiative to excell at his sport.

That's true when lots of money is involved then nothing can go right. I mean I actually used to like A-Rod when he was with Seattle and even when he was with Texas because he seemed to play baseball for fun and he seemed to always have a good time even if he was on a losing team. Now that he's a Yankee he is very serious acting and isn't able to handle the pressure that is being put on him. For his sake he should want out of New York and try and find his former self and remember how baseball is supposed to be played.

Torre is a professional and handled the largest payroll, with some equally large egos. Anyone who can last this long, working for Steinbrenner, is exceptional.

 

I hope they don't fire him, as Managers get too much credit when they win and too much blame, when they lose. He's one of the best in my book.

Very true Oldrambler!! Torre is one of the best (baseball men) still left in the game. His baseball knowledge combined with his character and his ability to handle players IMO ranks him among the best ever.

I really do not think he manages again. I hope I am wrong!!

Fox sports said at the opening of the broadcast just a while ago that nothing had been confirmed, only rumors.

Well I would say that may be true to an extent. There is a sort of professionalism still intact. I mean I don't expect Lou to say yes I've talked to the Yankees about managing them next year, especially not until they officially get rid of Torre as manager. They are giving Torre time to resign before they actually let him go. It's probably in the works but no one will say anything until Torre is out.
