I raised this point a few weeks ago.... if 5 or 6 W's a season is all your looking for, then hey, things are in great shape.... At this pace, UK will get to the 7 or 8 Win season in 2015. Keep buyin those tickets..... Its the best way to say you enjoy 3, 4 or 5 win seasons....

Lets not forget that this past year was the first year that UK had all 25 scholarships to give out instead of the restricted amount that the probation had them on. UKMustangFan is right that UK is heading in the right direction and last nights close game with South Carolina showed that. Just the week before UK was up on Florida 7-6 with just 2:00 to go in the 2nd quarter before the depth of Florida started to show in the 2nd half. I know that it is hard for you to admit but that team 100 miles East is getting better, but dont worry your Cardinals are still the far more superior team but would it be that hard for you to give UK credit where credit is due.:thumb:

I just don't see how you can call the game being close progress. If being in conference games late were progress, that would mean that Kentucky hadn't been in that position lately. But if you look, Kentucky has been giving teams better than this Gamecocks squad scares for years.

 

I DO think this team is better offensively than UK has been, but the defense is not very good and is about to get worse with the d-line injuries. But the comment about there being progress because UK was in the game until late is just not accurate.

I dont think 5 or 6 win seasons are all UK fans are looking for, as you say. But when your coming off of 2-9 and 3-8 back to back seasons, a 6 win season this year would be considered a step in the right direction. Anyone expecting 7 or 8 wins this year is delusional. As far as buying the tickets, my family has had season tickets in football and basketball before Rupp was ever built or Commonwealth was ever expanded, it will take a lot more than 5 win seasons in football to change that. The proceeds from football games go back to the school, not just the football program.

My youngest son and I really enjoy ourselves at the game last night, we ate hotdogs and popcorn, it was all fun, just wish the Cats could have pull it off, but the good time between father and son is what matters the most. This was his first big time college game,he took it all in. As for the game itself, well what can I say, another disappointing loss:irked: I still think this team is alot better then last year's team.

Not me...the next step for UK football and fans is not to accept these. Over the last couple of years, possibly, based on sheer numbers.

Now is the time to seize the moment.

I was very disappointed in the loss. Should never have been in a 17-0 hole.

I thought UK played terrible...The problem is that they are a team that has no idea on how to win. I can't stand on every play Woodson has to go up to the line, then look over to the sideline for the play call.... This waste so much time and they never get into a good rhythm. This makes you play slow and you never get a good tempo going.. This is all "COACHING"....Brooks needs to look for a spot in a nursing home... He's a horrible football coach......:irked: :irked:

Vintage UK Football...... Played pretty good but not good enough to get the W..... So, what has changed in the UK program???? Nothing in the w-l column, same ole same ole..... 2 - 4 now.....

 

Comments on the game: UK defense against the run reinforced their national ranking of 100 something out of 118... Just way, way to soft.... D line was totally ineffective. LB and end could not fight off a block utill the opposing ball carrier had netted 4 + yards... This was consistent all night.... I thought UK was supposed to be more physical team this year..... Sure did not show any progress in that department last night. Your playing Spurrier, he is going to have several trick plays, always has always will...... How come UK is so surprised when USC runs these plays???? Poor preparation and poor exicution of UK D game plan.... UK did not play with emotion the first half and the crowd went to sleep.... I did get a laugh in the ESPN2 common tater say that the UK QB Woodson was the best QB "fundamentally" in the country..... Did any one else pick this up??? Hats of to UK for the attempt although "significant" progress was not shown in that game........ so the record stands at 2 - 4 *( But we played Fla tough for a half and we only lost to USC by 7...) This just doesnt cut it for this fan....

 

This is a game in past seasons when UK would have been blown out. But these 'kids' (and I use the term kids literally as they are so young) never quit and gave themselves a shot to win. You have to learn to walk before you run and these Cats keep getting up even after they get knocked down. The crowd may have laid down for a good part of the game, but the Cats did not.

 

The commentator in question was Andre Ware (a pretty good college QB in his own right) and his comment was that Woodson was the best college QB fundamentally he had seen in person this season. His specific comments were on his reads, his abilty to make all the throws, the tight spiral of his throws, etc. I happen to agree that he actually has been excellent this season.

 

Unlike you, I see major progress with this team. They have won the game I thought they would win and lost the games I thought they would lose. With UK in the past, they would usually have at least 1 or 2 losses where they were favored to win by now. These young Cats are headed in the right direction.

On paper and from what we've seen from both so far, it looks like UK might have their best chance in some time to beat the Dogs.

2) UK comes out with high hopes of an upset, plays terrible and gets buried from the get go.

I totally agree. Our line play, especially the D-line, is the biggest reason we can't get that "big" win.

 

Until we can get stronger and deeper up front, we're going to need an out-of-this-world performance to beat a team like Georgia or Tennessee.

 

I think our skill players on offense and our back seven on defense are good enough if we were stronger up front. I'm not saying they are up to par with some of the elite teams in the conference, but, IMO, they're good enough if the guys up front could compete better.

 

When he's got protection, I'd take my chances with Andre Woodson against any QB in the SEC. Maybe I'm too high on Woodson, but I really think he makes good decisions and throws as good a ball as any QB I've seen...when he's got time. And, I really like our RB's with Little, Dixon and Smith. I also think the receiving group is pretty solid with a stud in Burton, an up-and-comer in Pulley, a reliable, speedy guy in Lyons, and a very good TE in Tamme. Again, there are undoubtedly more talented groups in the conference, but those guys aren't to be taken lightly.

 

If our offensive line could hold up and consistently give Woodson time and open holes for our backs, I think our offense could be one of the best in the conference. Alas, we aren't there yet.

I see some progress with this UK squad, not major progress. The talent level is better but the line play and overall team depth are major problems. We just do not have what it takes to contend in the SEC plain and simple. Our defense HAS to improve and JMO is that the offnese though improved just is not there yet. I belive that the scheme of the offense is somewhat too wide open. In the SEC or anywhere for that matter you have to be able to run the football. If teams don't respect the running game nothing else goes. I can't say enough dissapointment in our defense, imo it is terrible. This UK team is very young and they will play hard and that is a plus. I just question the offensive and defensive schemes as a whole.
