I thought UK played terrible...The problem is that they are a team that has no idea on how to win. I can't stand on every play Woodson has to go up to the line, then look over to the sideline for the play call.... This waste so much time and they never get into a good rhythm. This makes you play slow and you never get a good tempo going.. This is all "COACHING"....Brooks needs to look for a spot in a nursing home... He's a horrible football coach......:irked: :irked:

Last time I checked, UK stands at 3-3, not 2-4.

 

That's what my notebook says also. Which, in my opinion, is an improvement in the win - loss column, but Im just using logistics. Halfway through the season UK has the same number of wins they had all of last season. You have to learn how to crawl before you can walk people!

You do make a good point with that TC4L :thumb: , I just don't think that Brooks is the man to step it up. JMO.

For those of you thinking that UK did some world beater job by holding USC to 350 yards instead of the 500 given up to the Chippewas, you're wrong. USC came in with a game plan to shove the ball down UK's throats. They did, and they made UK like it. Worse showing, IMO.

 

You may be right, or you could just be looking for another reason to bash UK, I dont know. But I for one came away from this game really impressed with Newton from USC. He's quick, elusive, throws a decent ball when he needs to, all in all he is a perfect fit for the USC offense. The best thing to happen to USC this year happened when their starting QB went to jail, Newton is a better fit to run their offense with the personel they currently have.

This was another one of those house money games that UK didn't NEED but would have given them some breathing room.

 

I think the Vandy game is the biggest concern at this point.

They actually defensed the reverse throwback to Newton fairly well. Perfect throw in the corner of the endzone, and White stayed with Newton on contain, but he kept looking back and didn't close on Newton, and was a shade late getting there. If he runs straight for Newton and not looking back he is there for the breakup.

 

I was wondering if anyone would comment on this. After the game a couple of USC assistants said that they have been practicing that play since two weeks before the Auburn game. In practice, against the USC defense, it has not worked even once, to this day. However they still felt like they could pull it off in a gameday situation. So when it came down to it, the ole ball coach said send it in. Of course, against UK, it works, classic UK football luck. True story.

I was at the game last night and definately got my moneys worth. Hail Mary at the end to possibly tie the game was great. I cant wait til Spurriers superoir attitude gets him into trouble with a good team. UK looked sluggish in the first half but really turned it on midway through the 3rd quarter. I believe that UK has a great chance of winning 3 games and possibly 4 if Georgia doesnt get things together by Nov. 4th.

I thought they played awful, but the fact that they still had a shot to win at the end really makes me believe this team is moving in the right direction.

Lets not forget that this past year was the first year that UK had all 25 scholarships to give out instead of the restricted amount that the probation had them on. UKMustangFan is right that UK is heading in the right direction and last nights close game with South Carolina showed that. Just the week before UK was up on Florida 7-6 with just 2:00 to go in the 2nd quarter before the depth of Florida started to show in the 2nd half. I know that it is hard for you to admit but that team 100 miles East is getting better, but dont worry your Cardinals are still the far more superior team but would it be that hard for you to give UK credit where credit is due.:thumb:

The first half of last nights game was the worst half of football UK has played all year. USC did everything they wanted to do on O and shut down UK on D. It was refreshing to see that UK didn't lay down - as past UK teams would have done - and made the game interesting until the very end.

 

I know some people are questioning the coaching of Brooks and Archer, but I think this team will only get better as the season goes along. One poster said that the Vandy game will be the true measuring stick. I agree with that statement and would also include Miss. St. too. If UK beats both of those teams and UL - Monroe UK be bowl eligible! I don't know about you, but as a UK fan that makes me pretty excited about the second half of the season, whereas, in the past 5 or so years I would be turning my attention to something else.
