I honestly did not think we would beat South Carolina. I hoped we would and thought it was possible, but didnt really think we would. Our defense did pretty good I thought to hold SCU to 24 points. The only problem is they were on the field way too long!

The offense struggled, but South Carolina maybe the best defense we have played all season actually, probably 2nd to Florida.

From what I observed (which was very little), there were just too many missed opportunities and little-turned-big mistakes on offense. UK could have won this game.

The Cats just can't get that big win...I was disappointed in the crowd tonight, I thought for sure it would be packed but there were a lot of empty seats.

Fall break might have had something to do with it. A lot of students are out of town this weekend.

Yes I agree somewhat, however it's hard to win against a team with the coaching force USC has now....

I thought some of the play calling was questionable. When we had the ball in SC territory we run an option play tothe short side of the field:confused:. The we get that holding penalty and it's over. We are looking 3 and 21 back across the 50 out side of field goal range.

The defense played adequately. Held SC to 350 yards, a far cry from the 500+ they gave up to CMU.

The last drive hurt obviously, but what some may not realize is that this team started the season with 7 pretty decent defensive tackles. After last night they are down to one in sophomore Ventrell Jenkins. Injuries to Abren, Peters, Mills, Prior and so forth have taken a toll.

They actually defensed the reverse throwback to Newton fairly well. Perfect throw in the corner of the endzone, and White stayed with Newton on contain, but he kept looking back and didn't close on Newton, and was a shade late getting there. If he runs straight for Newton and not looking back he is there for the breakup.

I thought the offense hurt UK, especially in the first half. There were at least 3 dropped passes in the first half and a couple in the second half. Steve Johnson dropped one in the 4th quarter, and it was a tough pass, but if he gets it, UK has 3rd and short and the drive is still alive, instead they have 3rd and long and pick up 10 and miss the long FG.

2 straight possessions inside SC territory after the defense forced two punts in the second half and only came away with 3 points. That was the killer.

Defense wasn't pretty in the first half but only allowed 10 points.

I'm not into moral victories...they had a chance to win this game and didn't. This one should sting UK fans.

The fake punt seemed to jump start them, and they even tried a little trickery and didn't pull it off.

This team somehow needs to establish the run...then they can work some play action to freeze the defense.

This team needs a bye week and unfortunately they have to go to Baton Rouge before they get there.

In any game on Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, and Monday night the team that loses usually has suffered from "questionable play calling".

Last night's good news is that South Carolina has not been on probation and UK has suffered devastating probation penalties, but yet these two programs seem to be on par with each other in terms of talent. That's great news for UK because now that the probation has been served, their level of talent will greatly increase and that might narrow the talent gap with other SEC teams and translate to a few more wins in the future.

I think most of us will agree that UK has come a long way although, we have a ways to go! UK could have laid down a few times in this game but they kept fighting. In the end they came up short but, I appreciate their effort and compared to years past I have to say that I love this team. A few more pieces of the puzzle and this team will come together and make our state proud soon.

Vintage UK Football...... Played pretty good but not good enough to get the W..... So, what has changed in the UK program???? Nothing in the w-l column, same ole same ole..... 2 - 4 now.....

 

Comments on the game: UK defense against the run reinforced their national ranking of 100 something out of 118... Just way, way to soft.... D line was totally ineffective. LB and end could not fight off a block utill the opposing ball carrier had netted 4 + yards... This was consistent all night.... I thought UK was supposed to be more physical team this year..... Sure did not show any progress in that department last night. Your playing Spurrier, he is going to have several trick plays, always has always will...... How come UK is so surprised when USC runs these plays???? Poor preparation and poor exicution of UK D game plan.... UK did not play with emotion the first half and the crowd went to sleep.... I did get a laugh in the ESPN2 common tater say that the UK QB Woodson was the best QB "fundamentally" in the country..... Did any one else pick this up??? Hats of to UK for the attempt although "significant" progress was not shown in that game........ so the record stands at 2 - 4 *( But we played Fla tough for a half and we only lost to USC by 7...) This just doesnt cut it for this fan....

For those of you thinking that UK did some world beater job by holding USC to 350 yards instead of the 500 given up to the Chippewas, you're wrong. USC came in with a game plan to shove the ball down UK's throats. They did, and they made UK like it. Worse showing, IMO.

I thought UK played terrible...The problem is that they are a team that has no idea on how to win. I can't stand on every play Woodson has to go up to the line, then look over to the sideline for the play call.... This waste so much time and they never get into a good rhythm. This makes you play slow and you never get a good tempo going.. This is all "COACHING"....Brooks needs to look for a spot in a nursing home... He's a horrible football coach......:irked: :irked:

I am suprised that the Cats kept it this close actually, I do not belive in "moral" victories, UK lost again plain and simple. A moral victory is a big "L" on the record. UK couldn't get in a rythym bc the coaching staff can't get in a rythym! Although I hope that I am wrong and eat crow on it, I will stick with my prediction of 5 wins at the most.

RP we clash on some things but I have to agree with you on this statement. Cats were not organized at all and the USC gameplan is what held the score down.

Last time I checked, UK stands at 3-3, not 2-4.
