September 28, 20178 yr I'm not sure why anyone started talking about donating in the first place. I originally posted that and intended it to be somewhat tongue in cheek, and just to point out the irony, that people who claim to care most about this country, are missing a possible opportunity to help out others and instead being wasteful. In the end, we all could probably do a little better, and that includes listening and being more open minded. Wasn't my intent to sidetrack things.
September 28, 20178 yr I saw the Rodgers Instagram thing yesterday. It made me stop and think that there are people in every stadium, at every game, that do not "honor" America the way people say they should...yet, we excuse them for "being on the job".
September 28, 20178 yr I know of no one. A couple talk a good game, but they will watch. DirecTv is giving people refunds for NFL Sunday Ticket because so many were threatening to cancel their tv service and they don't usually let you cancel at this point. You all can think what you want, people are tuning out. Hockey is more exciting anyway, so there's an option.
September 28, 20178 yr Rishard Matthews Donating $75K to Back Up His Protest Matthews comes from a military family. His father was in the services for 23 years and his brother was a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.

I've seen and heard too many say so, to not believe at least more than a few will follow through with it, at least in the short term. I expect things to be down certainly over the next few weeks. The real question is how many will stay away permanently. By the way, I love hockey, and wish it got more coverage out here. In my opinion, Hockey is the best sport to watch in person. Fast, physical and games are over in 2 to 2.5 hours.
September 28, 20178 yr NFL is in a pickle. They have already sent the precedent they stand behind the protest, so they can't go back on that. But they are no doubt going to lose revenue/fans over this. I have no idea how they fix it now other than to say the players will remain in the locker room during the singing of the National Anthem. Y
September 28, 20178 yr :lol2: No, he didn't say all the white supremists were fine, upstanding individuals. I'm of the opinion that no one that thinks that the white "race" is better than any other race is a fine, upstanding individual. They em are not protesting police. They are protesting police brutality. They are protesting systemic racism. They are protesting those that think that "some" white supremists are fine upstanding individuals, while black men quietly protesting are called profane names. Yeah, again, some had finally had too much. It was time to show solidarity, even if just that one day. There isn't only one answer to your question. The irony is that those white supremists, some of which are so upstanding, were at a rally with Confederate and Nazi flags. Talk about things that dishonor and disrespect what our flag stands for! But, both are legal and these types of rallies are also protected forms of free speech. It just sure seems like a double standard the way some lose their minds over quiet kneeling, but think that those with Confederate and Nazi flags aren't doing far worse. I will say this works both ways though. There are many people who have lost their mind over confederate flags. It is happening on both sides.

September 28, 20178 yr One quick thing about those that disagree with the players taking a knee because they see it as disrespectful to the flag, the country and our service men and women. Not everyone that feels this way are white. I've seen quite a few people outraged on TV and on Facebook about this whole thing and they aren't white people. It's not as cut-and-dry as some think. Also, others are just not wanting anything political interfering with their favorite past time.
September 28, 20178 yr For me, I've gotten tired of the emphasis taken off the game and concentrated on name calling, who kneels, who doesn't, who raises fists, who doesn't come out of locker room, etc., etc, etc. I've quit watching. I wanted to watch FOOTBALL not an editorial about this and that. That's why I say this is having a negative effect rather than what was first intended. A backlash, so to speak. I've seen several posts ask the question what other alternatives could have been used to garner this much attention. That's a fair question. However, this tactic is having a negative reaction from many and not doing the NFL any favors. The diehard fans will watch and go to the games regardless, but everyone who watches NFL are not diehard fans. That's where the trouble begins for the owners and franchises.
October 2, 20178 yr So, I was reading Budweiser is considering ending their sponsorship of the NFL. They have a hotline set up to hear people's opinion. Their number crashed this week with responses. I also read the company that supplies the suits for on air talent for NBC and is an advertiser during broadcasts, pulled their sponsorship. I guess there have been meetings this week on how to handle it with owners, players and NFL executives, it was brought up a company that has a $40 million sponsorship with the NFL is considering pulling their money. It didn't say the company so not sure if that was Budweiser or a different company. I know USAA is a partner also and I would think they would have all kinds of pressure from the military. Justified or not, the kneeling is going to cause a disruption to business.
October 2, 20178 yr Haven't seen a game in 2 weeks or commercials that go with them. I also usually buy about 300 dollars worth of Dallas Cowboy stuff a year. Not this year.

October 2, 20178 yr I'm sure Jerry Jones really misses that $300. I bet they miss $100 million of sponsorships. Is that not split among the teams?
October 2, 20178 yr I'm sure Jerry Jones really misses that $300. Not your most brilliant response....
