Corey Dillon worthy of the Hall?

I just saw an article on bengals.com about this and I really don't know if he is or not. What do you all think?

Aright so i lied and didn't give you the article. Uh just go to bengals.com and find it i guess. It would be stellar if someone added the link though...

Corey has had a nice career, but I don't think he's a HOF caliber player.

You da man!:thumb:

Here's his career numbers:

Corey Dillon

1,000+ in seven of nine years. 70 career TDs. 16th on the all-time rushing list. If he can stay healthy, and go somewhere where he will get some more carries, he has a shot to get into the top 10.

I'd like to see more, but I think he's very close. He did just turn 32, which is a strike against his chances to really add to his resume.

He's borderline right now, I thought he had one more big season left in his body but he has more mileage than a 20 year old diesel engine. He had some great seasons on some very poor teams, but the media at that time talked more about the "terrible" Bengals teams rather than CD. If they had a HOF for jerks they would be carving the bust as we speak.

I think the guy has had a great, though mostly unappreciated, career. He has some big time numbers, and a ring. But, unless he has a couple more years as a big time yard gainer, or touchdown maker, I don't think he'll get close to being a HOF.

I think the single-game rushing records he holds also will help his quest for the hall.

I personally can't see it...

While a great player, he's never been a household name, like most other HOFers.

Maybe he'll sneak in after a few years, but absolutely not 1st or even 2nd ballot IMO.

What are his single game record(s)?

I heard this debate yesterday.

My first thought was "no." However, taking a step back and projecting out a few years, he just might get in eventually. He's going to be up there on the career rushing list which will get some consideration. I do think, while its unfair, that his time with the Bengals and the associated losing will hurt him.

Lastly, it takes a back 62.5 yards per game during a season to get to 1,000. That by itself is not that impressive nor HOF material.

I don't diagree with the basis of that overused stat, but with the increasing number of RB's that aren't able to make it through a season (and play 16 games), I think that ratio is pointless, overused, and misleading. IMHO.

My gut feeling about Corey is that he isn't a HOF'er, but his stats are impressive.
