Corey Dillon worthy of the Hall?

I don't diagree with the basis of that overused stat, but with the increasing number of RB's that aren't able to make it through a season (and play 16 games), I think that ratio is pointless, overused, and misleading. IMHO.

.

Fine. Take it to a 14-game season - 71 yards per game. Again, not as great as the "1,000" figure seems.

Secondly, I'll submit the Denver Broncos as evidence that 1,000 yard rushers are not that hard to find.

I will admit, though, that over an extended career (vs a single season), averaging 70 to 80 yards per game IS impressive. It simply doesn't do much for me in a single season.

I dont think he will. He was on a bad Bengals team for so long, had he been with NE during the 4 year run, I'd say yes for a couple reasons. He would have much better stats, and 3 rings... but I dont think he has enough time left to work his way in.

What are his single game record(s)?

He still has the single-game rookie rushing record (most yards). I forgot that Jamal Lewis eclipsed his overall single-game record, though. But he did have that record for a few years.

That is what I was thinking; I was just making sure.

I thought Lewis took it from Shawn...

He averaged 1,000 yards while his team was behind in almost every game. Let's face it, if the Bengals were at least mediocre when he played, you could add another 1,500 yards on his career numbers. Truth is, when he ran against a lot of 8 man fronts. There was noone else for the D to respect, and he still ran for 278+ yards. What he did for who he played for is very very impressive. If he isn't Hall of Fame, Jerome Bettis and Eddie George definitely aren't.

I agree with the Two Angry Guys. The Hall OF Fame should be for the All Time greats.

If you have to debate it, they're not a HOF'er.

Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, those are HOF'ers.

I'm sorry... :D

For once...I do too...:thumb:

Agreed, none of the 3 are hall of famers. Great backs though.

Bettis is No. 5 all time in rushing yards. Stop speaking with your heart and use your head. He is a no-brainer HOFer, although probably not first ballot.

Dillon and George are very similar, numbers-wise.

From a Bengal fan, I agree Jim. :thumb:

Bettis is nearly a lock.

Dillon and George are on the outside looking in.

I dont think he has the rookie rushing record anymore either, because didn't Mike Anderson break that his rookie year with the Broncos...

You are a fool to think Bettis wont get in. Although he did play for the steelers (ewwww) he is the 5th all time leading rusher, a real stand up guy, and he is loved and respected by lots of people. Hate the steelers, but respect Jerome Bettis, the future hall of famer.......
