August 6, 20179 yr Driving through Atlanta is preferable to driving around Atlanta. Never been an issue for me. Nashville traffic is worse.
August 6, 20179 yr Driving through Atlanta is preferable to driving around Atlanta. Never been an issue for me. Nashville traffic is worse. I agree 100% Driving through has never been an issue for me as seems to be about an hour quicker than going around.
August 6, 20179 yr Albuquerque NM to Joplin MO back when I was in my mid 20s - approx 800 miles in 11 hours ( add 30 mins for gas/food/restroom stops )...had to stop east of Joplin and get some sleep. That was a grind! I've driven 675 miles from NKY to Atlantic Beach, NC in 12 hours including stops for gas/food/restroom ( typically an hour total ) stops with the family...:lol2: Drives me bonkers when Mrs. C1 says, "Let's go to Cracker Barrel!" I could get by on beef jerky and chips. I just want to get to the destination quickly and efficiently... :thumb:
August 6, 20179 yr Going through Atlanta sucks. Next time go up 95 through South Carolina and North Carolina its a better drive less traffic and it is nice looking at the Mountains. That's how we go. Made that drive a few times, so probably 950 miles or so.
August 6, 20179 yr Around 1300 miles from Chicago suburbs to West Palm Beach area. Our dog was just a puppy at the time and required several more bathroom breaks than we would have needed if it was just us, so the drive took 23 hours. Because we lost an hour on the time change we actually pulled into our destination 24 hours to the minute from when we left the day prior. It was a fun coincidence at the end of a rough drive.
August 6, 20179 yr 18hr 58min 1,227mi My wife and I split a drive from Lexington to Aransass Pass, TX to see her parents.
August 6, 20179 yr Two summers ago when my son got married my mom along with an aunt, uncle and a couple of cousins came down to the wedding in an RV. The RV broke down while they were here and was not going to be repaired in time for them to go home. We had just bought an Expedition, so I had just enough room to load them all up along with their luggage to take them home. I drove from Somerset to New Castle IN and straight back which was just over 500 miles in about 7 hours. I pulled up to mom's and my uncle's homes and never got out just let them unload and I was gone. Other than 1 stop for gas I never got out of the driver's seat.
August 6, 20179 yr My wife drove us nearly the entire way home from New Orleans, once. I drove the first couple of hours and felt so bad that I couldn't drive...didn't realize I was in the middle of heart failure at the time. She drove the last 600 miles home in one shot.
August 6, 20179 yr 2 years ago Bellevue to Ocean Isle, NC 10 hours 693 miles We do that trip. Love Ocean Isle.
August 6, 20179 yr Knew a courier once who lived in Brown Co in Ohio. Drove to downtown Cincy each day to pick up cargo by 10 AM. Drove to Cleveland and dropped off cargo. Drove to 4 other stops in Cleveland to pick up cargo. Drove back to Cincy to drop off cargo by 8:30 pm. Drove home to Brown Co. Did this every day Monday thru Friday for over 5 years.
August 6, 20179 yr That's how we go. Made that drive a few times, so probably 950 miles or so. From Maysville to my parents' just south of St A via Knoxville and Atlanta is about 840 miles. Via Asheville and Columbia is about 840 miles as we'll. I like to drive the former at night and the latter during the day.
