Highlands' schedule for next year (2007)

Featured Replies

All I care about is whoever is calling the plays needs to do a better job of it next year. :thumb:

From someone not affiliated with Highlands in any way and who cheers against them often, I totally respect their coaching staff and realize they are the BEST staff in NKY, getting more effort out of their players than anyone and getting the most out of their talent possible.

Dale is a master at molding his offensive game plan around the talent he has; think of the different types of offenses you have seen-from wide open with Jared & Gino, to pound it teams with Sester leading the way and every thing in between.

Some of you Bird backers are, quite frankly, unrealistic; a lot of the time Highlands is the best team in NKY and in the state in your class, but not always. No disrespect to anyone, but Highlands hasn't had a Div I talent at QB for awhile; it does make a difference in what a team does offensively.

CovCath was better this year and LexCath was better last year; salute your players and coaches for their efforts because they are absolutely UNMATCHED in the state.

We know that.:thumb:

Conner's new coach has dropped Highlands from the 2007 schedule. Highlands is now hoping to schedule games with Cincinnati Colerain for 2007 and 2008.

Aiming high, I see...

The new coach at Colerain is the brother-in-law of a Highlands Alum.

There is certainly interest there.:D

Obviously the new Conner coach does not think his Cougars can match up with the much smaller school from Ft. Thomas. What kind of message does this send his new team? "Hi Guys, I'm your new coach! By the way, you have no chance of beating the Bluebirds so I decided to disgrace you and our entire entire school by dropping them from our schedule".

Maybe the coach will play the Birds if it is his varsity against the Bird's Freshman? My money would still be on Highlands in that game.

Wow. That's an interesting start.

Why do we have such a hard time filling a ten game shedule? But no one else seems to have this problem!

Hopkinsville, Mercer County, Trigg County and Lexington Catholic would disagree with you when it comes to scheduling 2007.

Heard this at the pub, Kerry Coombs had been spending some time in Ft. Thomas recruiting and been seen walking dogs with Dale so maybe thats where the real connection is. Wow! maybe he cut a deal with Dale, that if Dale sends him some of his "6 D1" players to UC then maybe possibly theres a win in for the Birds finnaly over a Cinti team.

The Pub, as in a Pub crawl or "walk" maybe. Since there hasn't been any "walks" lately in Ft. Thomas to get info about a team other than HHS, I thought that maybe this was the start of something. Can anyone confirm HHS will be playing Colerein the next two years and also I heard that the freshman might be playing ah Trinity? WOW!

You guys are really becoming obsessed with this, aren't you?

Colerain and Highlands are talking. Highlands would love to schedule the games for the next two years. Both schools have early season openings in their schedules in 2007 and 2008. It's all comes down to whether Colerain wants to play. A decision should be made soon.

I don't agree with you. As I've said in previous posts, HHS is not a team you want on the schedule if you have a struggling program. (see Grant Co. and Dale's "just practicing my onside kick by using it to open the game" play) That is just Dale's philosophy. (one that I personally don't agree with, having been on the receiving end of losses by coaches that practice Dale's philosophy and those that take a different approach) And, taking another angle, if Conner doesn't feel they can play with HHS, would you really want them on the schedule. To be the best you must play the best is mantra from most Birds fan.

The big question I have is how much money are we going to get for the cancellation. I'm thinking this was a 2 year contract and there is usually language in the contract specifying a monetary penalty (or "buyout"). Anyone have any details? (of course, I may be wrong)

I don't think this would apply since the contract had not been signed. There was a verbal but when it came time to sign the Conner coach backed out. Just my opinion.
