Highlands' schedule for next year (2007)

I think he is being realistic. No one does a better job of pumping his players up than Dale does. Is that a bad thing. I don't think so. I can guarantee you that the way these boys work out and train basically year round, they aren't taking anything for granted whether a coach talks them up or not. They earn everything they get. It doesn't hurt either that they have a coach willing to go that extra mile to get these boys exposed. As of right now, Dale has 7 or 8 players names out in the papers and/or blogs. It's also nice to see that there are that many quality kids that my son gets to be around and play ball with. Maybe he will learn something from them as they are a great group of kids and role models. Their work ethic is second to none. I like many other faithful see good times ahead for these kids and the Birds!

I don't see anything wrong with him plugging his players, he always likes to drop "this is our fastest", or "I'll bet we beat the record of four" type quotes, he really gets it done with the media.

Believe me, I fully understand the work that the Bluebirds put in is absolutely second to none.

I fully agree with positive reinforcement and coaching in a positive atmosphere-look at Tony Dungy; he proved that it can work at the highest level.

My point is that all of these players will not get a Division I scholarship, unless they seriously underachieved as juniors, which I don't believe they did. They were very good high school juniors.

Some will get those scholarships and some won't. Your point about hard work kind of makes my point; they are going to work their tails off, moreso than anyone in KY and some will wonder why they didn't get the rewards their coach said was out there for them.

100% positive I agree with, but not 100% realistic.

Realistic or not, they've already achieved "the dream"....they play for HIGHLANDS!

The offseason wouldn't be the offseason without Dale claiming that next year's team will be the ________ (biggest/fastest/most athletic/most DI players/fill in the blank) in school history.

The reason Dale's says that every is year becuase Higlands has had some great teams in the past and most of the kids on the teams grew up in fort thomas and they want to be as good as those past teams. Most of the kids look up to the old players and want to be like some of the past Highlands players and if a kids shoots for that he is selling his self short when he can be better... Which is why Dale tells the media that not to pump everybody, but to show his team he has confidence in his players and that they can be the next great Highlands team....

I just heard that Colerain is off the board. It will not happen. But, I also heard that Highlands has been offered a spot in the Kirk Herbstreit, Ohio -Vs- the nation, tournament and may play the Dayton area school, Trotwood Madison at Paul Brown Stadium. Trotwood has a D1 prospect QB and the game could be on espn 2.

That would be too cool for school!!! :ylsuper:

But I won't get my hopes up just yet. ;)

Not so fast there big fella. We've not been offered a spot yet to play Trotwood. We are trying to make that happen and have been in discussions, but we won't know any thing for certain for a week or two. Keep your fingers crossed that it happens. Highlands is, in the meantime, trying to see if there is anyone else available for a game at Highlands in the second week.

Yeah but they were still better than ever other team in NKY except those other blue boys and maybe Ryle...

I'll maybe go with what kystatechamp05 stated that Highlands was slightly behind "the team from park hills", (only because Cov. Cath. went to state) in biggest, fastest, smartest?, tallest, most athletic, but hey, best looking definately goes to "The Team From Fort Thomas".:D

Hard to think Trotwood is mentioned for the challenge. They're not a very good program.
