Tonight just showed how young UK is, also showed they dont know how to win in big games. (YET) there are just somethings you can't do to beat teams like the gators. The youth of UK made to many silly mistakes that hurt them at the wrong time.

 

UK defense looked the best it has looked all season. The offense looked like a team waiting to bust out at any second. If they can eliminate mistakes.

 

UK played hard and was please with the improvement.

 

The more I watch the Cats the more I believe Brooks will turn things around in 2 more years. ( I can't belive I just said that.) But this team is loaded with very talented kids that just happen to be 18-19 years old.

Deep down, I only hope the Cats lose one game a year, but some people make it hard for me to root for them throughout the season...Im sure the same can be said vice versa.

I think there are a lot of positives for UK in this game. For starters I'd look at the fact that Florida scored as much in the game as Louisville did before halftime. They actually led Florida close to halftime before the defense got run over on that drive. If they could play that way against teams that aren't as good as Florida, I see no reason they couldn't have 7 wins. I think it's almost certain they'll lose to Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia (as long as Georgia doesn't play the way they did against Colorado), but I think they could win every other game.

Nice effort by Woodson. Cats in dire need of an offensive line!!:cry: Left tackle played matador all night.

Tamme also looked impressive. Cats killed some nice drives with mistakes and you can't make mistakes against a team like Florida.

Florida has a brutal schedule coming up but is a serious contender for a national title.

:thumb: Nice observations, Woodson did look good especially dodging "D" lineman and backers all night let free by our lousy "O" line. Florida does have a brutal schedule ahead but then again so does all SEC teams as loaded as this conference is. If ANYONE in the SEC goes through the conf. schedule unbeaten they should be a serious contender for the national title game,just go ahead and send them to the game. JMO and yes I am bias for the SEC. (Just that good of a conference tis year)

That is a bizarre statement. He was very impressive with his ability to run the football. It is said, however, that his arm still needs much improving. I'm not saying he will never win a Heisman because I think he will definitely be in the running for it in the future. There have just been better athletes than him at the QB position and not won (i.e. Brad Smith - Missouri, Michael Bishop - Kansas St.).

 

I believe our skill positions can compete with Florida's, but our offensive line is way behind. It looks to me as if the focus on recruiting needs to be the hog-mollies up front.

That is not bizzare in my mind at all. Tebow can definately throw the football and I think that he will show that in the very near future. This kid has Heisman and #1 draft pick written all over him in the future. I will not use the term "bizzare" at you opinions on Smith and Bishop but imo Tebow will be a much better qb than either one of those two and they were very good.

Pulley needs to be an EVERY down WR. Scratch the QB career...Hartline and Fiidler can take care of that in the future. Overall, I'm satisfied as you can be with an L.

UK looked like that had a chance to pull the upset in the first half. Some bad breaks hurt them....and it would have done wonders to at least tack on a FG before half....bad call....clock should have stopped.

 

The second half...the O-line was worn out...QB had no time to do anything.

 

I do believe that UK is better than most people give them credit....And I was one of those people...

I don't think that UK ever had a chance to pull the upset last night but thanks for the compliment. UK did show that they could play with a very good team at least for a half. That is better than previous years. I still don't like Brooks/Archer and the defensive scheme of things :irked: and our "O" line couldn't block their grandmother :eek: but like I said earlier......as bad as this program has been this is an improvement. Still not good but improving.

When UF scored on their opening drive I was thinking oh no here we go again. Overall I was impressed with the way we played we really should have had the lead at the half. Kentucky played their hearts out and got a moral victory but frankly I am tired of moral victories and it's time to pull a big time upset.

A few positives to take from this game. On offense, UK went away from their weaknesses. They went with short quick passes and moved the ball. The 4-man rush was fierce by UF. Unfortunately, they couldn't run effectively enough to utilize some play action to freeze the rush or the LB's.

Pulley did some nice things at WR. Freshman Smith and Grinter showed some hope for the future.

The OL got run over in the second half, but I think they wore down to an extent and you have to remember they shuffled some OL around because of the loss of McCutchen at center, who didn't play and was missed. Heck, Jason Leger a DL last week played quite a bit on the OL.

Woodson did an adequate job, but he needs time to throw and is not the mobilist of QB's.

I'm sure not having Little to return punts and run the ball and catch it out of the backfield was missed.

Every UK drive in the first half made it into UF territory and only netted 7 points. Penalties at inopportune times hurt them. Those are the mistakes they have to eliminate if they want a shot at the elite in the 4th quarter.

Aside from the last UF at the half, the defense did an acceptable job. They got some turnovers and bent but didn't get caught up in an avalanche.

They were gassed in the second half. UK had the ball on O quite a bit in the first half and the reverse happened in the second half.

Now, they have to build on this and take care of business against CMU next week. Beat CMU, then play a SC team that hasn't played well this year.

In Myers offense that was not as much of a "trick" play that one may think.

UK played a very solid game. The O line wore down and the left tackle really needs to learn to at least get in the way of the oncoming defender. Woodson did have happy feet a few times, but really played a solid game. No turnovers. In 4 games, ... 2 against top 10 teams, ... he has 10 TD passes and 1 INT. Without Little and Conner in the backfield, UK was shorthanded in the running game and a young team like the Cats needs to have everyone available and healthy.

 

I thought the defense played much better than in weeks past. They had a few bad series (the last one of the 1st half comes to mind), but overall, came up with some nice turnovers at crucial times. Having Pryor back in the lineup sure helps them and Woodyard seems to always be around the ball.

 

I thought I was being conservative when I posted that UF would score 42 on the Cats, but am glad to say that I overshot that mark.

 

The bottom line is that UK has a whole lot of very young players who are already starting to step up as starters and subs which means nothing but good things for the future. Nice effort in a tough place to play against a top 5 team!

PEOPLE NEED TO STOP TRYING TO SCOOP THE BALL UP ON FUMBLES. It's not nearly as glorious, but if you flop on it, you have the ball.

 

I mentioned this in the updates thread. It seems like I've said FALL ON THE BALL at least once a week for the last four weeks, whether I'm watching high school, college, or pro. I know that players are coached and consistently told not to pick to ball up, but to fall on it. Posession is more important than trying to make a big play. Some will note that Woodson picked the ball up against UL and threw that long pass. For every one of those types of plays, there are 10 times that a team loses posession because they didn't get on the ball.
