That's what we are talking about. Declining viewership costs them money.

The declining viewership has little or nothing to do with politics. If that were the case CBSSN, NBCSN, and FS1 would be garnering the fallout. They aren't. Ratings are down for all of the established sports networks, across the board.

 

It's digital media, over-saturation, and a decline in the number of sports fans in general causing this. When the next roll over in the prime demographic is complete, sports may very well hold just a small part of the entertainment spectrum.

ESPN lost some valuable members in Dr Punch, Ed Werder, Trent Dilfer.

I get that, but the market had little to do with the topics. They flooded it and at it's peak, it would likely scare us to look at their bottom line. I don't think they did anything wrong, just dealing with the reality of the times and changes in their dynamic. I'm not buying that the social topics were the reason. Folks simply have access to that market without relying on ESPN primarily like the old days.:lol2:

They aren't getting any fallout because their ratings literally couldn't get any worse. They have no where to go but up.

I find it hilarious that people blame politics or "ultra left leaning" views as the decline of ESPN. It's their terrible TV contracts and the rise of digital technology that has hurt them more than anything else. Look around. People are cutting the cord to cable/satellite TV every single day. Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, PS Vue, Amazon Firesticks, etc are taking over television. That's not including the ability to pick up your smartphone and find out any and all information you want to find out about any sport in a matter of seconds. Why would anyone tune in to ESPN and wait for them to give you highlights of the OKC/HOU game when you can go to twitter or your NBA.com app and get all the highlights you need while you are on the toilet? There isn't a need for ESPN except for when they are broadcasting games. I don't see FS1 raking in the money and they have the exact same format as ESPN and they don't have any real sporting events to broadcast. Take away Monday Night Football, College Football, College Basketball and the NBA and there simply isn't a need for anything else on ESPN and I love ESPN. Years ago when they paid all this crazy money for TV contracts economists predicted it would be the downfall of ESPN. How much are they paying to broadcast their crappy Monday Night Football games? How much have they paid to broadcast college football and basketball? That's the downfall of ESPN. Not their "ultra left leaning" politics. :lol2: :lol2:

Only took 7 pages for someone to finally get It right. ESPN makes it money off of people paying for their channel. Less and less are doing that.

I like him and I like hearing him talk politics more than the News people.

It's not about being pro-Kaepernick or anti-Kaepernick it's about the fact that I don't want to hear about Colin Kaepernick unless it's about his play on the field.

Add me to the list in August once my Directv contract is completed. Probably gonna do Sling TV. Hearing a lot of good stuff about them. Who needs ESPN and a 125.00+ monthly bill when I can get everything I want from Sling TV and Netflix?

Nope.

They don't like him because he's loud and says what he thinks regardless of what it's about. Some of the same people that hate him love President Trump for the same reasons.

I can't remember the last time I watched Sportscenter. I pretty much only watch ESPN when they are broadcasting a game I'm watching or the occasional 30 for 30.
