United Airlines Overbooks Flight, Then Drags Man Off Plane

Featured Replies

Really? They do this all the time.

I've seen them come on a plane and ask for volunteers don't know if they got them or not. I think what they are saying is that once you're in the seat you can't be forced to relinquish it.

So, did the emergency crew make it to Louisville in time? I have a feeling they could have rented them a car and they would have made it faster than waiting on this fiasco.

It's not a very long flight. It's a near 6 hour drive. They wouldn't have made it on time, and due to regulations would have required X amount of rest time. Staffing airplanse is not at all as easy as staffing virtually any other job.

The stock is getting hammered today though. It had lost a billion in market share earlier today. It has recovered nicely, only lost $600m in market share now.

And for good reason.

So obviously the removal could of been handled differently. United isn't innocent and deserves criticism. But this doctor is suppose to be an adult. Once you were picked you were not going to win the argument. You don't have to be happy about it but act like an adult and exit the plane.

Also I know some on twitter are saying his past is irrelevant, but I disagree. He was claiming he had to be at the hospital the next day . We now know he can only practice one day a week so it calls into question if his story is even true. With his history I'm not going to take his word for it.

It will blow over in less than a week. At the end of the day a large part of every airlines business is corporate travel and this isn't going to scare off that business if it's a good deal. The short term flucuation of the stock is pure emotion driven and happens all the time. What drives the price over the long haul is actual fundamentals. Smart investors are acting.

We took 2 United Flights on Friday. Both were overbooked. They must have a major issue w/ no shows. They offered $300 vouchers to take a different flight.

No shows are just part of the airline business. Some hotels also over book also.

This will be laughed at for years. Completely stupid move by United.

I hope they go bankrupt now.

Go bankrupt? In a few weeks this won't even be news. How would cause them to go bankrupt.

I also hope I win the PowerBall. That doesn't mean it's going to happen. It's okay to hope.

United has finally dropped the tough guy approach and apologized.

@PaulMiles840

TMZ report: Kentucky man dragged from United flight played in World Series of Poker.

A guy like that probably knows how to bluff. As in the screaming as he is pulled off the plane.

Reminded me of Monty Python: "Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

"Now we see the violence inherent in the system!"
