Kid was stomping, kicking grandma and little sister, was screaming and all mom would do was tell him he could only play one hour of video games that night if he didn't stop. I'm a horrible example. My parents spanked me and grounded me. All it did was teach me how to not get caught.

 

For me, I just wish that if we are going to attack that we strike to kill. Especially with all of the previous rhetoric that we have been soft when it comes to dealing with situations abroad. People say we sent a message but to me the message would be louder and stronger if we didn't give anyone(Russia) the courtesy of knowing our plans. Imagine the message to the entire world if we bombed that hanger and killed Russians and Syrians? To me that is a real message that puts the whole world on notice.

A military operation/strike is not the same as war.

 

POTUS needs Congressional approval to go to war. He does not need it for an air strike as far as I'm aware.

Congress needs to declare war for us to officially be at war. That hasn't happened since 1941.

But doesn't he also know that if we choose to attack that Russia will alert him with enough time to act properly.

 

Like I said before this was a diplomatic bombing. It wasn't intended to do anything more than send a message. My guess is if Assad escalated things to the point that a more significant strike was warranted by the US that we would not give the courtesy of a heads up to Russia like we did for this so Assad wouldn't have his heads up either.

Rebuilding what was just destroyed is one thing. Re-supplying Syria and or using Chemical Weapons in the future is another. The US lost all foreign policy credibility under the last administration. Lines in the sand have been replaced by craters.

They aren't rebuilding what was destroyed in this case. They are talking about stronger ground to air defense with better radar and anti aircraft weapons.
