It was the appropriate response to using chemical weapons. Bombed the base where they launched the chemical attack. Two fold message to Syria and the rest of the world, abide by the treaties and accords you signed AND this president will act when and if it's necessary. This was necessary.

I've read through all this and I'll admit, I am far from the expert, but do we really think these bombings are going to have any affect on what Assad does or doesn't do? Madmen tyrants seems like they'll keep being madmen tyrants until their dead.

Why have the death and bloodshed unnecessarily? This was a very diplomatic bombing and I fully recognize the oxymoronic nature of that statement. Assad felt he could do as he pleased because we weren't going to do anything to stop him for one reason or another, and this proves otherwise. He's always known we've had the fire and man power to shut him down, but now he knows we're willing to use it if need be.

What happens if it does? Again, the Russians have been propping up Assad for a long time. Are we calling their bluff in terms of how committed they are to supporting the Assad regime? And what if they answer our call?

 

It's not really a bluff Russia can't afford a war with us.

Also let's not forget it was Putin who was the go between between the Obama adminstration and Assad to get rid of chemical weapons. So either behind closed doors Putin is mad or he knew about thr chemical weapons the whole time. If Putin did not know he can't be happy about the use of chemical weapons becausr it is one of the few positive stpries Russia has had on the world stage.

CNN alert just said Russians were at the base that was attacked and some conversations today DID give them some sort of a heads up.

I think the highlight thus far of the President's team is the new defense team he has put together. Between Mcmaster and Mattis we know that the President will be getting good info and advice.

Capable to strike and willing to strike are two different things. You always knew your mom or dad could spank you, but if they never did it you just kept pushing the limits.

 

Saw a kid last night as I was waiting to be seated for dinner. Kid was stomping, kicking grandma and little sister, was screaming and all mom would do was tell him he could only play one hour of video games that night if he didn't stop.
