We already know where the air bases are, if we want to take them out we can. If by some chance your scenario proved to be true, I don't think we would care about the Russian jets being there. The Russians know what's going on, if they lose some jets because they didn't get them out then that's on them.

 

That totally didn't answer my question with regards to the question of "what's next." Say we take out all Syrian airbases, and destroy a few dozen Russian planes in the process. What happens then? Do you really think the Russkies don't respond?

What happens if it does? Again, the Russians have been propping up Assad for a long time. Are we calling their bluff in terms of how committed they are to supporting the Assad regime? And what if they answer our call?
