There was a time when the question was - "Who will challenge UCLA?" as noted by SI in 1968.

But Kentucky can beat any team if they play with attitude and for 40 minutes.

Notice it was Mike Casey on the cover and not Dan Issel. A lot of fans from that era believe if he had not broken his leg and missed the 1970 season the Cats would have ended the UCLA streak that year.

Yep, he didn't actually say they're a tune-up. He said they are alpha dogs who all try to turn into Michael Jordan when they are behind.

I guess we are gonna try to find a way to be upset about that too.

Good grief the guy just talks to hear himself.

And makes a lot of money, while having the opportunity to see a ton of games, doing it.

A little bit of trash talk goes a long way!

They are definitely obnoxious at times. But in regards to providing the masses that is the Big Blue Nation, there isn't anything better out there.

Matt Jones is a smart guy and plays to his crowd well. They made a mistake this time and fully owned it. Doesn't seem like many own it in the same fashion when they make a mistake.

I really think this one sets up well for the Cats! The emergence of The Hawk has completely changed the complexion of this team. UK has proven that they have improved on the defensive end. Ball will get his share of Hawkins, and double teams.

UCLA turned the ball over 18 times in the first meeting, that's problematic for the Bruins. Expect Cal to trap intermittently both 3/4 court and in the 1/2 court. Ball is a great ball handler and decision maker, let's find out about the others.

The other glaring stat from the first game is UK got up 14 more shots from the field and attempted 6 more free throws than the Bruins.

Alford has used zone defenses regularly during post season play, which tells me that there will be open looks from behind the arc.

Don't expect a track meet, UCLA is a great up-tempo team. Cal has a history of getting stingy with possessions in big games.

I think the Cats slow this one down, bring some physicality and move on to face the Heels.

Or the other possibility is everyone freaks out and it turns into an NBA all star game!

Even though Hawk is a solid defender, I would normally be worried about him guarding a 6'6'' guard and being shot over quite a bit. The nice thing about the way that Ball shoots, that isn't happening.

I wasn't upset about the other thing. I was just trying to report what was said. Same here.

If Ball gets hot from deep, so be it. But The Hawk will make him earn everything he gets. I am a bit concerned about UCLA posting Ball up on Hawkins.

Ball is a threat because of his supreme passing ability. He has the gift to see the court and anticipate where players will be.

He is outstanding!
