March 8, 20179 yr Can't express how happy I am for NKU. Huge for them heading to the tournament in their first year of eligibility. Didn't think it would ever happen, which Coach Brannen played an enormous role in. I've always thought it was cool watching the teams make it that REALLY has to earn making it from the smaller conferences, but when it's the school that you attended undergrad and where you grew up at, the feeling is just a bit different. Way to go Norse!
March 8, 20179 yr That game was a battle from beginning to end. Both teams played hard nosed defense that made the game a grinder. Holland was the difference maker. Brannen coached a great game. I enjoyed watching this one. It will be a lot of fun watching the draw and seeing NKU's name go up there no matter who they play.

Plus, going D1 is a commitment in all sports across the board. There is a price to pay and time needed to ramp up your programs to D1 level.
March 8, 20179 yr As a NKU grad who goes to a couple games a year and a die hard UK fan. Pleaseeeeeeeee don't let it be UK vs NKU in round one.
March 8, 20179 yr Watch them play UL or UK in their first game...... I feel confident it will be Louisville or Kentucky in the first round. On the plus side, it should be in Indianapolis, which will allow many NKU fans to attend.

March 8, 20179 yr Tagging the seats and having a draw party would be a great idea EXCEPT, the KHSAA Girls "Sweet Sixteen" Finals are being played there Sunday afternoon. Congrats to the entire Brannen family!!!!! Fantastic folks! Hard work pays off.

With all due respect to the girl's high school teams, this is a much bigger deal. I say that knowing full well it won't happen.
March 8, 20179 yr Think they'll play in the 1st 4 in Dayton? I will be extremely unpleased if they do. No school should have to do a "play-in" game in their first ever tournament.
March 8, 20179 yr A buddy said that Coach Shields was in tears at the final buzzer. He was with several alumni that I know that graduated in the 70's at Dickman's last night.
