Look, I don't like Jefferson Sessions. I don't trust Jefferson Sessions. I can think of few people I'd want running the Justice Department less than Jefferson Sessions.

 

He shouldn't be immune to criticism during the process allowed for under the rules. A normal nominee would not be so shielded from said criticism. I find it infuriating.

That's my understanding. I get the rule. It prevents outsiders from testifying by proxy against a senator. I just think it was inappropriate to use it to halt a confirmation hearing.

Worst part is this will give Warren and even higher pedestal to grandstand. I have tried my best to like Warren, but her shtick is tiresome.

He's not immune, everyone on the left in and out of the Senate has called him a racist...not much more criticism you can lay on someone than that. Where is he being shielded? She broke the rules, I didn't see him getting shielded from Sen. Booker or others that have attacked him...but they did so within the rules. Of course Mrs. Warren probably thinks her Native American Status means she is above the rules of the Senate.

To be fair, it wasn't a letter from some inconsequential person. It was the wife of the greatest civil rights leader in our country. Considering the biggest critique of Sessions is his alleged racial improprieties, I'd say Ms. King's testimony would be relevant if it hadn't been a violation of senate rules.
