Happens to us all. Although I'm not a Trump guy, I am a conservative and will defend it, sometimes too quickly. I get the point @TheDeuce was making, I just know how dirty and hateful partisan politics are and how much hatred there is anymore toward anyone that's not "your guy" these days. That's part of why I sounded off so quickly. I mean, look at any thread, it's ugly. It was ugly when Bush was president, it got even uglier when Obama was president. At this rate, the ugliness will surpass both before Trump reaches the one year mark. I completely blame social media. The tripe I've seen the last weeks is embarrassingly disgusting. I've never seen this level of hate. I get not liking a president because you dislike their views or whatever, but this is beyond dislike, it's pure hatred. It's evil. We have these people claiming a guy is illegitimate because they claim he's hateful, and they literally act at a level of hatred that surpasses what they're railing against by leaps and bounds. No common sense, no respect, no civility. :idunno:

 

I get that you feel that so many people that are so angry and/or concerned as being excessive, but does the fact that there are an excessive amount of people at all make you stop and ponder if they at all possibly have a legitimate reason to be?

 

You don't have to agree with them, but it's a little hard to ignore that this is not your ordinary reaction to a new president in its excessiveness, and you certainly have to notice that Trump in no ordinary president. It wouldn't be a knock to say that he is polarizing and controversial because he is polarizing and controversial. I don't know that anyone could claim otherwise and still pretend to be honest about that.

 

Some see the way that he is as just what the country needs, while others are frightened or concerned by the way that he is because under most ordinary circumstances from a president to just about any respectable position of leadership, his character is not typically what you would hope to find, and bizarrely right winged Christians for example would normally have not wanted this kind of character under most normal circumstances, yet since he ran as a Republican and they vote Republican, the choice for them was peculiarly easy.

 

All the folks that act surprised that Trump is getting this kind of reaction puzzles me more than the fact that they found him suitable to support. Honestly what would anyone expect from someone like him?

This is obvious and there's nothing wrong with you being a conservative Republican, but is it really that difficult to see why people are concerned even if you don't agree with them, and even if you don't buy that, still the magnitude makes it worthy to pause the bias momentarily and take notice and ponder its possible legitimacy.

I honestly think a large amount on the left are spoiled little snowflakes that grew up thinking they were special because they were told they were and that they were entitled. Most of them don't know what earning something is like, the rest of them are too self absorbed to care. Their actions only reinforce my opinion of them.

So this is really a thing huh? Not sure why it would be shocking to anyone that Obama had a larger crowd. It was a pretty big deal and moment in history. I'm not sure why we really care.

The left didn't dig past elections that didn't go their way, and examples of protest can certainly be found, yet the magnitude of this would suggest that this is not them all of the sudden collectively becoming snowflakes.

 

If this was entirely true that they are just simply snowflakes then you would have seen this magnitude in the past because what would have stopped all the snowflakes from freaking out to this magnitude before?

Perhaps I don't see it because I didn't hate Obama, and I'm just being biased, but he seemed like a mild mannered guy who knew how to act diplomatically and control his behavior. I don't see this in Trump.

Well for the next 1458 days these protesters will wake up and Donald J Trump will be their president. It could be a extra 4 years Rockmom but those votes have not been counted yet.

I doubt that. I also think that the time may be coming when a 3rd party emerges. But, we do need to get thriugh the next 1458 days. I think it will take less than 90 days to see something will have to change. And in reality, we only have to wait about 700 days to find out who may be throwing their hat in the ring for 11/3/2020. Not that I'm counting or anything...

Gotta remember going W had ran the economy in the ground so plenty of Republicans were sitting at home too.

As a third-party voter (I'm going to continue to ring that bell)...I, for one, would willingly go to any and all Presidential inaugurations if I had the opportunity because of the sheer historical value.

 

That said, I would think that the inauguration of the first black President, as well as his second inauguration SHOULD justifiably be record setting crowds because of the gravity of the accomplishment, as would be the inauguration of our first female President whenever that day should occur. In that regard, I think any person's expectation otherwise is somewhat ridiculous.
