In his speech to the CIA, POTUS said the rain stopped when he walked out enabling him to see the 1.5 million people on the lawn, and then it poured as soon as they left the stage. (Why the CIA needed to know this anecdote is beyond me. Seemed like a stupid thing to say in front of that wall with 117 stars on it)

January 22, 20179 yr If Hillary had won the election, the crowd would not likely have been any larger than it was for Trump. I despise Obama, but neither Trump nor Hillary enjoyed the enthusiastic support that Obama did in 2008. The enthusiasm gap would have put a damper on turnout for this year's inauguration, no matter who had won. Someday, a popular female or Hispanic president may draw a crowd like Obama did, but Hillary was not that candidate. There's a million women in D.C. today for a march who'd probably disagree with you on this.
January 22, 20179 yr Because there are hateful people out there that can't get over a loss? :idunno: I will admit, I could be wrong, but as FKYW posted, there is a controversy about whether the crowd from this year was taken at it's apex or not. Would you be surprised, considering the disdain for Trump from some on the left, that the depiction of the crowd is fake? Is it really hard to believe that could be the case? Not hard at all, but what @TheDeuce was pointing out has a mouthful of validity to it as well. People will let their core biases make them knee-jerkingly say anything. You don't know the true circumstances, but your bias had you go directly where it went and state it as if it were fact. It's sorta like at a basketball game when you notice vividly all the opposing team's violations the entire game, but somehow never seem to notice your own team's violations one bit. I'm guilty of it too, but I promise you, though I'm sure others will disagree with me, that I try my best not to flippantly keep pushing a narrative without backing it up the best that I can with truth.
January 22, 20179 yr I've been out and offline but did see something about the new administration shutting down all National Park twitter accounts yesterday. Had something to do with a picture that was tweeted out regarding crowds. Anyone enlighten me/us on the situation? Too lazy to look it up and I'm heading out for the evening. Violence and death threats would have kept a number of people away. It doesn't matter to me about the number who showed up for the Inauguration. The important number was how many went to the ballot box 11/8/2016. :banana:

Times are now estimating a half a million. I had originally understood that it was considered a million women march, so it looks like it was really only half of that.

I work nights so I don't see much live tv and after the inauguration, I had no desire to watch the news l. So idk
