January 21, 20179 yr I've been out and offline but did see something about the new administration shutting down all National Park twitter accounts yesterday. Had something to do with a picture that was tweeted out regarding crowds. Anyone enlighten me/us on the situation? Too lazy to look it up and I'm heading out for the evening.
January 21, 20179 yr Big green horse posted a facebook pic of the crowd at trumps vs Obamas making Trumps look only partially full. Later saw a live feed that showed it to be packed as well. Maybe that's what they are talking about?
January 21, 20179 yr There's a picture circulating that shows the crowd difference between President Obama and President Trump's inauguration. Apparently the NPS retweeted it and their Twitter account got promptly shut down. I've saw that they may be claiming the original retweet was an accident or unauthorized.
January 21, 20179 yr The Mall was never packed yesterday. Up around the Capitol was, but there were several shots throughout the ceremony showing how empty the mall looked, especially compared to the inauguration in 2009.

January 21, 20179 yr Much smaller crowd than in 2009 (as expected), that is what most comparison photos have shown. I'm guessing that is what some are trying to make either a controversy over or gloat over. Of course the threats of violence kept many from going...I know of two groups locally that didn't go due to those concerns.

Because there are hateful people out there that can't get over a loss? :idunno: I will admit, I could be wrong, but as FKYW posted, there is a controversy about whether the crowd from this year was taken at it's apex or not. Would you be surprised, considering the disdain for Trump from some on the left, that the depiction of the crowd is fake? Is it really hard to believe that could be the case?
January 21, 20179 yr Watching the ceremony live I too thought the mall was only half full. But it doesn't matter. 2009 was historic for a large segment of society. Hence it was about half the crowd four years later for the same man. The size of the crowd was probably reduced by weather and the protests but no one looking at it logically would think it was going to rival 2009.

The depiction of the crowd isn't fake. I made the comment during the ceremony yesterday that I was surprised how empty the mall was. It's just funny to me that instantly that possibility is brought up.
