Had ad no problem with the foul call on Bam when he dove on the player. His 2nd foul call was on a simple box out. The guy was behind him and didn't even attempt to jump for the ball.

Yes. The question is why?

 

Is it because the NCAA is trying to get the game to a point of "freedom of movement?" If so, then the officials called it correctly tonight. If so then the players simply have to adjust.

 

If the answer is "no" then it's on the officials. My guess is they're calling it as instructed by their assignors which are getting instructions from the NCAA.

 

I hate that college basketball is trying to do the whole freedom of movement. It's not like the NBA where guys have been there many years. Players there already know, so it makes the transition easier for rookies to eventually learn.

 

In college at most you have players 4 years, and the better players only 1 or 2 years, then the cycle repeats with brand new college players from high school. It's to hard to get the college game to the freedom of movement level of the NBA. Which is going to give us games like these. Because I agree by the way the NCAA wants it officiated now, the refs did their jobs. There are so many teams, and so many conferences, and refs it's impossible to fully implement because of inconsistencies in refs, so hard for players to adjust. I could care less about the freedom of movement thing the ncaa wants.

Anyone else notice that Monk's game is very parrallel with how his first shot goes? He missed tonight.

The one call on the screen that TV Teddy called that Sean Farnham (who I like calling games) didnt' like looked to be correct by rule (assuming there was contact). The rulebook says that if you set a blind screen from behind you have to give the defender a chance to take a step before contact. The screener did not.

 

However, I think there was no contact so....

 

The blocking out fouls were also correct. You can't displace someone especially when they're in the air. You can't hip check them out of bounds.

 

The foul on Bam was correct when he jumped on top of the guy who was on the floor.

 

Fans don't like these kinds of calls but they are correct.

 

The foul on Bam was probably a foul but what they overlooked was the foul to Fox that preceded the call on Bam. Fox was knocked sideways and to the floor by an MSU player twice his size. If the refs had called the obvious foul to Fox the play would have stopped right there.

Only thing positive I can find from that one is Gabriel is really starting to come along. He keeps improving like this and they'll be impossible to defend.

It was nice to see Willis shoot with confidence.

The T on the dunk by Monk was the dumbest of the night.

It was good to see Willis carry UK when in need of some points, but he also gave up about 8 straight in one stretch when he simply lost his guy. Gabriel does the same, but he at least makes up for it with his physical ability.

 

RE: Bench.... People got what they wanted with SKJ getting some action. He made the most of it committing 3 fouls in about 1 minute. Hump at least brought some energy to the table, but still erratic. Mulder must have returned to the dog house. Hawkins is always in the right spot and opportunistic. It would be nice to have Charles Matthews.

He has done it for Bam all season. You could tell each time he would say "Adabooyo," Pharnam would come back and say it correctly in a sentence. I think it clicked with him during the second half and Bam was from there called by his actual name. Can't wait to see what is in in store for next week.

without question he just needs to call Bam---BAM and forget the 5 different ways he says Adebayo
