January 18, 20179 yr When is Kentucky become a good defensive team like we keep hearing they will be? Still, tons of breakdowns.
January 18, 20179 yr When is Kentucky become a good defensive team like we keep hearing they will be? Still, tons of breakdowns. I was highly disappointed last night with their defense against the drive. I think I heard the radio guys say that MSU scored over 50 points in the paint. Unacceptable. They have a matador defense on drives. I agree with one of the halftime studio commentators, if UK doesn't get that fixed Kansas and Mason III will eat them alive.

Heck, that kid --Peters-?---was matching Fox drive for drive at the end. UK could not stop him.
January 19, 20179 yr Author TV Teddy is calling the Florida/South Carolina game and just under 4 min in the first half and there had been 17 fouls called.
January 19, 20179 yr With the emphasis on freedom of movement the days of 50-45 final scores are a thing of the past. Hand-checks are a no-no anymore making it nearly impossible to keep a good penetrator from getting to the rim. This adds extra importance to having a rim protector, which UK is lacking. If Bam or Killeya-Jones don't progress in this area the Cats will continue to struggle on the defensive end.
January 19, 20179 yr Author Florida/South Carolina game just ended S.C won by 4. A total of 55 fouls (27) on Fla. and (28) on S.C. I'll bet that one was fun to watch final score 57-53. With a total of 62 FT's attempted.
January 19, 20179 yr It was good to see Willis carry UK when in need of some points, but he also gave up about 8 straight in one stretch when he simply lost his guy. Gabriel does the same, but he at least makes up for it with his physical ability. RE: Bench.... People got what they wanted with SKJ getting some action. He made the most of it committing 3 fouls in about 1 minute. Hump at least brought some energy to the table, but still erratic. Mulder must have returned to the dog house. Hawkins is always in the right spot and opportunistic. It would be nice to have Charles Matthews. Agree 100%. Really hated to see him go.
January 19, 20179 yr @Clyde, KSR has videos of the 2nd Bam foul along with a couple of questionable calls on their front page currently. Give it a look and give us your opinion/review please.
January 19, 20179 yr When is Kentucky become a good defensive team like we keep hearing they will be? Still, tons of breakdowns. Kentucky almost always has tons of breakdowns. They just had a solid shot blocker to clean things up. We don't have that this year.

Sorry for the delayed response. First foul on Bam can be justified even if I might not call it. Looks like he grabs the player with his right hand in order to keep him away from the rebound. Humphries fol is a phantom foul. No clue what the official saw. Illegal screen on Willis is the correct call. Blind screen requires the screener to allow one step for the defender. He did not. Illegal screens seem to have become a priority in the last couple of years.
