I like seeing them have close games. They need these type of games. With the sec being weak, they need some close games to at least get them more prepared for those situations during tournament time.

52 fouls- 4 Technical fouls- 35 turnovers. Cats seemed to lose some focus after getting up 18. MSU kept playing and made a game of it the last 8 min or so. Wenyen played well. Willis had a nice 1st half. Fox closed the game. Monk and Briscoe struggled. Looked like a fairly typical mid season sec road game for the Cats.

Sure was a tough game to watch at times. UK haters often think of that as a typical UK fan response. Reality, the officiating in the last few SEC games Ive seen have just made the game almost unbearable. They need to reevaluate.

 

Glad they won again and figured out how to battle through. Fox is so tough.

According to what I've read the SEC and AAC have an alliance and share officials. It sounds to me like they are employed by the SEC even though they may work another conference as well.

Yes. The question is why?

 

Is it because the NCAA is trying to get the game to a point of "freedom of movement?" If so, then the officials called it correctly tonight. If so then the players simply have to adjust.

 

If the answer is "no" then it's on the officials. My guess is they're calling it as instructed by their assignors which are getting instructions from the NCAA.

The one call on the screen that TV Teddy called that Sean Farnham (who I like calling games) didnt' like looked to be correct by rule (assuming there was contact). The rulebook says that if you set a blind screen from behind you have to give the defender a chance to take a step before contact. The screener did not.

 

However, I think there was no contact so....

 

The blocking out fouls were also correct. You can't displace someone especially when they're in the air. You can't hip check them out of bounds.

 

The foul on Bam was correct when he jumped on top of the guy who was on the floor.

 

Fans don't like these kinds of calls but they are correct.

The main call I had a problem with was when TV Teddy got Bam in the post for an offensive foul.

 

TV had a dribbler in his lap being guarded tightly. That's his primary responsibility - not looking into the post. That's the baseline official's primary area. I'd ask TV what was going on with the dribbler and when he told me I'd ask "how do you know since you were looking off the ball?"
