There is never a reason to hit a woman outside of maybe your life being in danger. Mixon is horrible person and I would not draft him.

 

But Musberger acknowledged how horrific his act was and hoped he changes his life and could help others on this issue. Hoped he went on and had a successful life. People who are outraged with Bret need to get a life , I have more important things to worry about.

Here's my take on the entire situation. Mixon was way out of line and should not ever have laid a hand on a female period. I'm not as outraged as some after seeing the video. Yea, bash away....the reason i say that is she looked to be the one who instigated it by shoving and hitting him first. Still he shouldn't have laid a hand on her but I don't think it was anything close to being as bad as Ray Rice video. Just my take

 

And let's face it, that video of Ray and his woman wasn't her first rodeo. Just saying.

These guys have a lot of time to fill, so they do have to talk about things behind the play by play. Every single telecast involves some things that are beyond the game and sometimes even beyond the sport. So if you have an issue with Brent in that respect, you pretty much have an issue with any sportscaster. And I bet you'd be stunned at the sheer boredom you'd have in listening to a game that had none of the extra stuff.

Just saying, when you say "why he needed to offer his opinion", in my opinion that is why. It is related to the player, and he added commentary. No different than if someone talked about Ryan Fitzpatrick having gone to Harvard and expounding upon that. I don't think that means he is starving for attention, even if you disagree with the opinion.

His second chance comes from making it his own second chance, not someone "giving" him a second chance. Playing college football is a privilege, not a right and character counts....he blew it, with limited consequences and in fact, a second chance that he didn't deserve from OU.

 

I don't care if the guy runs for office or gets a CPA, he should not be doing it on the backs of those that play by the rules and don't break people's faces...

 

Now if he wants to make his living in the MMA ring, where the fight is more fair...so be it.

But I have no issue with someone giving him a chance, even though I probably wouldn't. There are many, many ex cons out there working for somebody. It's not my place to dictate where he should or shouldn't work, unless he's trying to work for me.

He certainly didn't do anything to win me over with his actions on the sidelines. From appearing to egg on the Auburn fans chanting

 

Totally agree Cat. I was turned off BIG TIME by his act on the sideline. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt but really can't.

 

Regarding the NFL, if you are real good, you get a lot of second chances. If you average 3.1 yds per carry in your most recent year, the NFL can act all high and mighty and take a stand and make an example out of you...

I don't want to come off as defending Mixon because as I just posted, his act last night on the sidelines really rubbed me the wrong way. However, I have an issue with just saying someone at age 19 or 20 can do something really bad and is automatically unable to do what he does best for the rest of his life. Just does not make sense to me. We don't know his life experience (what is his family life like?), was he stoned when he hit her, was she stoned when she grabbed him? I don't know but I do think there could be some mitigating circumstances that while not making it OK by any means, may make him someone who can rehabilitate his life.

 

Now after watching his act on the sideline yesterday, he does not look too sorry to me. If I was an NFL GM looking at possibly drafting him, he would have a tough hill to climb for me to consider him.
