I'm just curious why the women are never at fault for anything? In no way, shape or form do I condone what Mixon did, but in some cases, not all, the woman can be physical (hitting, kicking, etc) and it's completely ok. When can they be held accountable also?

 

When they pick up a weapon or object as a weapon to inflict severe harm. That's they only time IMO. (Particularly if the male is the large athlete that Mixon is)

And for the record, I don't think he should have ever been allowed to play for the university at all.

Ha, nope. Personally I think he should have gone to jail, forfeited his scholarship and started from scratch like anyone else who had done that. However, I'm not gonna rail on someone who thinks he should have been given a second chance. I might disagree with that opinion, but I also think whoopin that behind is a good idea, so I'm ok with those who have another opinion.

This guy hit a woman once. He's not a perpetual woman beater. What else is on his rap sheet? The video is horrible, I don't know if he spent anytimein jail or not. He should've if he didn't. That said, if you were in his shoes do you think you should lose your job for one incident? If you messed up would you say to your boss "I completely agree that I shouldn't get a second chance, and I can see where you are coming from with your choice to terminate me".

 

Sometimes one stupid act can change the trajectory of ones life so dramatically there are no second chances. This isn't just a whoops I made a mistake kind of act.

100% of the time a women should be held accountable if she assaults a man. Seeing the video of this specific incident, do you believe what she did warranted what Mixon did? What about what Ray Rice did?

He forfeited that "right" when he broke a person's face....

 

If you believe that he is much more apt to make a positive impact playing football than anything else in the whole world he could be....well I guess you actually prove my other post about how backwards as a society we are with sports, or you have no confidence that this guy can get his stuff together and lead a productive life outside of football.

 

Football does not stop societal problems....only the individuals responsible for the problems can do that

Not at all, didn't mean to imply that....but injury pics often sway the prosecutors office.

 

The assault, irrespective of the damage, is the action to focus on. The extreme violent nature of this particular assault is an enhancer for the discussion

Level of injury is a factor to the crime. If Mixon would have slapped her on the shoulder really hard it would still be assault but if you think that would be treated or seen as the same thing as punching her in the face and break it in 4 places you're insane.

He certainly didn't do anything to win me over with his actions on the sidelines. From appearing to egg on the Auburn fans chanting “He hits women” at him, to multiple Oklahoma teammates yukking it up as they fake-punched him in the face in celebration on the sidelines later in the game. Extremely poor taste.

 

Why should this guy be rewarded with a spot on an NFL roster when there are guys lined up behind him with just as much talent who don't go around hitting women. I thought the NFL said that hitting women was bad. I know, it's only bad when you're not in your prime anymore.

 

To me, his actions last night showed a lack of remorse, and a look at his true character.

 

I have heard many people say that playing in the NFL is a privilege, I do not believe that this young man deserves to do so.

I haven't read the thread so excuse me for blabbing, I listened to Brent last night and thought about how much I miss him because he is really good at his job. I also thought, sometimes Brent is a lost and says things that make him sound old and uniformed.
