January 3, 20179 yr This guy hit a woman once. He's not a perpetual woman beater. What else is on his rap sheet? The video is horrible, I don't know if he spent anytimein jail or not. He should've if he didn't. That said, if you were in his shoes do you think you should lose your job for one incident? If you messed up would you say to your boss "I completely agree that I shouldn't get a second chance, and I can see where you are coming from with your choice to terminate me". 1) We don't know if he is a perpetual woman beater...yet 2) If my boss said I was fired for committing a crime, then what does what I think, feel or say have to do with it ? It doesn't, you get what you give in this world. 3) If by "messed up" you mean assaulting an individual and literally breaking their face and you believe you should get a second chance....well, he is...he's a free man with no felony convictions. Go have a productive life...just not on the football field. The problem in our society is we too frequently give athletes a pass on their violent actions, yet do not seem to do the same with non-athletes....why is this? I believe it's mostly because our culture is so enamored with sports we don't look beyond the damage to the athlete or his / her future. It's backwards...
January 3, 20179 yr I just don't think I'd harangue Musberger over it. I agree. Not to mention Musberger is borderline senile, so there is that. His response to the reaction he was receiving during the game was ... uncomfortable. You could feel Palmer wanting to move on from the subject.
January 3, 20179 yr We know he is a dirt bag, or at least had a dirt bag moment. I just don't understand why he is disallowed to utilize his own skill set to earn a living here forward? My guess is he is much more apt to make a positive impact doing something with that career than another. Limiting opportunity gives more of a chance for Mixon, or other like him, to become a societal problem. He forfeited that "right" when he broke a person's face.... If you believe that he is much more apt to make a positive impact playing football than anything else in the whole world he could be....well I guess you actually prove my other post about how backwards as a society we are with sports, or you have no confidence that this guy can get his stuff together and lead a productive life outside of football. Football does not stop societal problems....only the individuals responsible for the problems can do that

From appearing to egg on the Auburn fans chanting “He hits women” at him, to multiple Oklahoma teammates yukking it up as they fake-punched him in the face in celebration on the sidelines later in the game. Extremely poor taste. Why should this guy be rewarded with a spot on an NFL roster when there are guys lined up behind him with just as much talent who don't go around hitting women. I thought the NFL said that hitting women was bad. I know, it's only bad when you're not in your prime anymore.
January 3, 20179 yr 100% of the time a women should be held accountable if she assaults a man. Seeing the video of this specific incident, do you believe what she did warranted what Mixon did? What about what Ray Rice did? I didn't say it did. It just seems like there are too many times the woman gets off because, she's simply a woman. I don't know what transpired between the 2 but the hit was unnecessary.

His second chance comes from making it his own second chance, not someone "giving" him a second chance. Playing college football is a privilege, not a right and character counts....he blew it, with limited consequences and in fact, a second chance that he didn't deserve from OU. I don't care if the guy runs for office or gets a CPA, he should not be doing it on the backs of those that play by the rules and don't break people's faces... Now if he wants to make his living in the MMA ring, where the fight is more fair...so be it. He should be out of football, period.

They don't say, you can go practice veterinary medicine, just not dentistry.
